Please note this isn't a picture of the falls itself, just a little run off right below it, I couldn't get any pics of the falls without people in it.
On a nice warm day we decided going for a walk somewhere. Crystal falls was our destination so we get to where we can park and there isn't a lot of parking at the base where you start. It's a nice little dirt path that's strewn with pebbles and sticks, a good place to bring a dog. the water wasn't turbulent it was clear and cool. A lot of people were tubing and just sitting in it to escape the summer heat. The walk itself was good, it wasn't difficult, I didn't even notice any elevation if there was one. We got there in about 45 minutes, and I tell ya after that walk, taking off your socks and shoes and even just sticking your feet in the water is refreshing enough for it to be worth it! There were several people along the trail and at the falls, it's a good spot to just sit and relax and listen to the water and see the forestry. The path continues if you want to keep going, or just head back to the base and go on your merry way!
Thanks for having us Crystal falls!

This is a great museum and peice of Fraser river history. The staff here have always been friendly and more than happy to teach and share stories. You get to walk through the engine room, machinists room, and upper decks and living spaces. Admission is by donation. A note that if you have mobility issues then this may be tricky for you.

This is a really neat find when you are in or near Campbell River. The trail maps could be better... and Google's own trail maps seem incomplete (not all the trails are shown) but it's a very impressive waterfall. The trails allow several different views and the easiest ones are probably fairly accessible for older people or people just getting started with hiking. The trails are short and the viewing platforms are solid with great safety railings. Dogs will probably find the metal grating uncomfortable though but it's really safe and non-skid for people. The improved access was created as part of a community project in cooperation with BC Hydro. As part of seismic upgrades the power house and penstocks are being replaced. The originals seem here (made of WOOD! and cables) will be removed soon and no one will see site again. The new waterflow is a tunnel. Really a neat walk. Glad we found it.
