I have hesitated a lot before writing this review, but after reading Fiona's experience I can't help but echo her feelings. I have been with Dr. Hui for more than a decade, but the truly horrifying experience I had with my last dental checkup in August 2021 convinced me to never come back to this office.
The horrible experience started with a very rude receptionist (didn't catch her name but that Selina character sure sounds like who I was dealing with). I walked in to the clinic when I was passing by because I wanted to move my appointment up. She was very rude with me, and said that I shouldn't come in if I didn't have an appointment that day (um what?). Anyways she moved my appointment eventually, and I thought that would be the end of the story.
Now on to my nightmare appointment. At the beginning the cleaning lady said that I will get a "deep cleaning." I said OK not thinking much about it. She proceeded to give me the most painful cleaning ever, by going under my gums and performing a full "gum scaling" procedure without local anesthesia. I was squeezing my hands on the chair the whole time but toughed it out nevertheless. The cleaning lady clearly seemed to enjoy it, periodically asking me if it was painful (it was, but it was bearable). Halfway through, she asked me if I had ever done a gum scaling before, and I say no. It was only then that she proceeded to explain to me that the process involved cleaning under the gums (I mean at this point I realized that this was not your normal teeth cleaning). Usually Dr. Hui would drop by to examine my teeth but not this time. This time it was a lady I had never seen before and all she did was poke into my mouth and say that my teeth looked very dirty. The way they treated me was not just weird, but very disrespectful.
This whole ordeal left me confused. I search online afterwards and it seems like deep scaling is a procedure only performed on patients with chronic gum disease. I do not have gum disease so naturally I have never had this done to me.
So I want to ask Station Square Dental, why would you not discuss this procedure with me beforehand, why would you not explain to me what you were going to do to my teeth until halfway through? Why would you perform this on me and not provide the option of local anesthesia? This was by far the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with any service. I legitimately felt violated afterwards.
If you want a dental clinic that values you as a customer and respects you as a person, do not come here. You will only be seen as another money tree from which they can fleece the maximum amount of insurance dollars possible. This is especially true for patients that have been with them for a long time. We have all seen how far downhill the service has become over the years.
