Words fail me when I try to describe what an awful experience I had at Airdrie Dental Stuido with Dr. Victoria. This was at our second visit to the office and it is difficult to describe how horribly rude and hurtful the dentist (Dr. Victoria) was to my six year old son. Unfortunately my son has had major dental work a few times since he was two years old, which included a root canal at five years old with Dr. Neil. It went well and my son came out to the lobby skipping and wanting to go have lunch at Red Lobster. The next root canal unfortunately we weren’t able to get Dr. Neil and had to see Dr. Victoria. Because I was not allowed in the back with my son, I didn’t know the door was closed and I couldn’t hear him but eventually someone came and got me to go back saying, “You have to come make him calm down.†I was shocked when I got to the back and saw my son sitting in the big dental chair (he’s tiny for his age) sobbing his eyes out. It still makes me sick to my stomach to think of how he was being treated. He’s incredibly smart and tells me later Dr. Victoria was telling him, “you have to stop crying†and speaking very mean to him. She was very short and snappy with me as well. He told me later it hurt so badly when she was doing work in his mouth. So not only was he treated so horribly, like nothing I’ve ever experienced before or since but to top it all off, neither root canal Dr. Neil or Dr. Victoria did (at a later date) even worked. Less than a year later, my son had to have both of those teeth extracted because they were abscessed. He now goes to a prediatric dentist who is so very kind to him and doesn’t speak rude to him, although he’s older and doesn’t cry at the dentist she still tells him every single step when she’s doing anything in his mouth and just last week her words were tell me if it feels like I need to have my nails clipped. She cares if he feels anything or experiences any pain. This year my son got an appliance at the roof of his mouth and braces on his top teeth without a tear or wimper and the staff at the orthodontist office were so kind and fantastic to deal with. The lack of people skills exhibited by Dr. Victoria was shocking, especially for someone in her line of work. The way Dr. Victoria treated a small, six year old was truly appalling. Again, it’s been awhile back but when I think of my small, helpless child being spoken to in such a tone and made to feel worse because the work was hurting him, it still makes me physically ill. I truly hope she never gets away with speaking to another person this way, especially a child. It’s obvious Dr. Victoria doesn’t care about the patient’s comfort but only about getting work done and making money. It’s disgusting someone in her line of work can get away with speaking to a child the way she did.
