Achray has great starting points for backcountry camping. We camped at Stratton Lake and it was beautiful (if you can get past the swarm of mosquitoes). Many tree branches around the camp sites have been trimmed away to avoid falling during high winds. The sites also have a line to hang your bear bag and some even come equipped with seating areas made out of logs or rocks. Also, the trails are VERY well marked! The Backcountry Trail Map from the Friends of Algonquin is mandatory prior to heading out on the trip, but don't worry it's a great map filled with information!

Super overpriced faux camping but a beautiful setting nonetheless.

Algonquin Park - Acray back country access point - always the perfect jump off.
