Why is the suicide rate so high in Alaska? Oh well, probably because of crack pot, unqualified doctors that are employed here. The only qualified, caring doctor that worked here was Venezia, and she was smart enough to get out of there. It’s been a week of paper work, emails, signatures, and phone calls of nothing. They won’t release my own medical records to me, without providing a reason. Barbara Thornton has her own level of incompetence. There’s just too much to even get into on that one. “Dr.” Erickson shouldn’t even be working in the mental health field, as she can’t be bothered to get in contact with patients. Her receptionist, Beccy, has an awkwardly long voicemail message where she stumbles over her words and repeats useless information. It’s too full to receive any more messages. Perhaps she doesn’t know how to delete them? Every experience here has left me frustrated, confused, and less healthy than before. On top of their awful customer relations, they don’t know how to properly diagnose anything and will give out medicine that has a 50/50 chance of working.

I am treated with suspicions of not being native, i've been treated badly, one time i went there with breathing problems, sat in lobby two hours, just got over pneumonia, turned out had pneumonia again, back to back, i have alot of issues me n my family and friends have experienced too many to mention, i am on facebook, would like to hear from other people with issues, i am appalled at their actions, i am native just as much as anyone else, they seem to forget that Indian Health Service is exactly as it says, common sense, no brainer. I've had alot of incidences, am getting tired of it. I have congestive heart failure, with alot of complications. To the point of not wanting to deal with them but i have to. But as of today i have a good provider now, Susan Jones, only good thing I can say about CAIHC.

my husband USE TO GO HERE....... he is a 3 time war vet and was being treated for PTSD along with a few other things, they got him in quickly and saw him quickly, put him on new meds, all of that was amazing, not to mention its a beautiful hospital, breath taking art work and we thought it was going to be a good fit..then he had body rash and thought it might be an allergic reaction to one of his new meds so he called in and they said come in so he did.. then they told him that he was not having an allergic reaction and that it was SCABIES! they told him to go home and keep taking his meds, he asked for a second oppinion-they would not give him one! so we walked out and went to FMH across the street, turns out it WAS an allergic reaction!!.. he stopped taking the med and it cleared up..he had a fallow up appointmentant to find a new medication, however his actual "DR" that was asigned to him NEVER EVEN SAW HIM ..EVER... we only ever spoke with Courtney L. Rawls who "would handle his case and consult with the DR" ...she told him she went to school for 10 years and she "could handle it" she then made asumptions about his condition (after only 2 meetings) and she failed to listen to his complaints about the previous alergic reaction and issue the with the nurse telling him that it wasn't an allergic reaction when in fact it WAS..she told him to "stop living in the past" .... he got irate and said that the hospital was incompitent and he could have died if he had done what they said...and she sudjested that he "remove himself" and "commit himself to the 4th floor at FMH" ....it never had to go this far, she escalated the situation and handled herself poorly, I will never set foot in that "hospital" again and neither will he for that matter, its hard enough for people wth PTSD to talk about their issues but then to have their providers not LISTEN makes it so much harder and can make it even worse!..and then on top of that its harder to open up to the next Dr....assuming that you are willing to even GO to another Dr.... Thanks for reading and I hope that you don't ever experiance this kind of "CARE
