staff and doctors amazing job

Feb 7, 2016
I haven't been to many dental offices in my adult life, but I'm pretty sure that there are better options than Grove Family Dental. To begin with, the office itself appeared dirty. This may only be superficial, as I don't know if it's truly an unsterile environment, but I found it disconcerting nonetheless. Also, the receptionist was, not rude exactly, but short in her responses and didn't come off as especially "nice." The biggest problem was the lack of communication between the dentist and myself; the specific dentist I saw was Dr. Bahar Rouhani. Going in, I thought that either a filling had fallen out or that I had developed a cavity, as there was pain one of my teeth, and it was particularly bad when I was eating. I informed the dentist of this, she inspected it, and her response after the examination amounted to little more than "your tooth looks fine." Sure, I was glad that I didn't have a cavity, but it didn't answer the question of why there was pain in one of my teeth. It didn't occur to me to ask her what was causing this pain, and I'm still not sure, but the pain has since diminished somewhat so hopefully I'm not dying. Another example, around one of my teeth my gum line was receding. She looked at this too and asked if I was "brushing too hard." My response was "I suppose I could be," because, honestly, I don't know, you're the dentist, am I brushing too hard? And is "brushing too hard" the only cause of this? Or are there other causes? Is there anything else I should be looking out for that might indicate a different cause? These are the kinds of things you should be telling a patient; they shouldn't have to ask for such detailed clarification. She didn't volunteer any other information, so I asked her if there were any other causes of a receding gum line and how do I determine if I'm brushing too hard? "Use a soft toothbrush and be very gentle when you brush" is essentially the response I got; it was not an answer to my questions. There were, at least, two other instances where relevant information was not given to me, one by the dentist, and one by her assistant, but I think the two examples I provided sufficiently illustrate the communication issues with this dental office. The point is, they barely said anything to me, and I had to question them repeatedly to try and get even basic information from them. Unless you have no other options, I don't recommend going to Grove Family Dental.

The place is filthy!!! I didn't even get through x-rays before I got up and left. The equipment and counters had grime and spit marks. DISGUSTING!

well duh he did that, shoot I wouldve too. no offense but I've got a family and I dont want to give them HIV. you should have told him to refer you to someone who would be willing to handle your condition because it could be transferred real quick especially in a dental office.

Let me start off by saying that this establishment is disgusting. Everything is covered with dust, dirt, and grime (even the equipment). Everything is antiquated and it doesn't look like anything has been cleaned since it was first purchased. The staff is friendly enough, if you want to be ignored. They chatted amongst themselves and had no attention to detail when they were cleaning my teeth or taking x-rays. The doctor isn't much better as he didn't ask any questions, didn't tell me what was going on, and when he did talk, I couldn't understand what he was saying but didn't want to ask questions because he had his fingers in my mouth. I got a filling done here and after the doctor had finished he asked me if the tooth was smooth... I guess he forgot that he had numbed my ENTIRE mouth. After my tongue regained feeling, I noticed that the filling was jagged and not smooth to the tooth at all. Three weeks went by and surprise surprise, the filling fell out. When I went in to get my x-rays, because they couldn't give me an appointment sooner than two days away (because it was braces day), they told me that I would have to pay $25 dollars for the X-rays. I understand that this might be policy, but it is a HORRIBLE policy. I've paid for those x-rays with my insurance and should therefore be able to check them out at my discretion. Overall, disgusting place with unprofessional staff.
