PLEASE HEED MY WARNING. THIS DENTAL OFFICE IS A SHAM. "Shelly" the office/financial manager and Dr. Hirota are the two most unprofessional dental "workers" I've ever dealt with. This office sent me to collections for 89 cents three years ago- when I'd been in and out of the office multiple times for cleanings and no one mentioned a word about it to me! So after the late fees and realizing they sent me to collections, I mailed them a check ASAP for a dollar and some change. After that fiasco, I went back to them- giving them another chance for some serious dental work and they not only gave false information (completely lied and made up stories), I ended up paying over $1500 for sub par dental work and am still in pain from it. I was told I wouldn't pay anything for the work at the time it was done but halfway through they had me sign paperwork saying my insurance may not pay- what was I supposed to do at that point? They'd already started drilling- the "Doctor" was literally working on my teeth when Shelly came in to break the news. What a sham! I DO NOT recommend this office to anyone. I work in the medical field myself and these people are not just unprofessional, they are downright ignorant. The only good thing this office has going for them are a couple of genuine and thoughtful dental hygienists... but if they have any sense, I'm sure they won't stay there for long. LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR DENTAL NEEDS.

Awful dry. Chad will never be the dentist his dad was he had very poor customer service & has a revolving staff that makes you wonder. His dad was awesome but his poor attempt to ride his coat tails is met at just that failure maybe his sister dad & brother got out luckily not to see the disaster he created Now I must write again cause dry chad stated he could no longer have me as a client cause there is mistrust between us ??truth is as I started before he is 1/2 the man is dad was & most family in the business lucky had death choose them rather than join his dysfunctional coat tails riding office. I wish him well be he is so un professional & without respect from his peers & most people that knew of what the practice was like when his dad had it are in the same thoughts as me. The best part of him lies on a zipper during the consumption of his regretted birth. Thanks for nothing dry chad

The Smiling Place, Ewa Beach office service is not good. We originally had two appt. scheduled at 9a & 9:30a for my teens. We didn't get asked to check in, to go over what procedures would happen for my teen, nor were we asked if any were on any medication as a precaution if something is administered. We arrived at least 15min. early as most ask customers to do to allow ample time for any paperwork. I recrived a phone call the day before asking to move up the appointment by 30 min. At 8 :30a, yet were told to wait at least 15 min. because they were running late. My thing is, why call the us to come in earlier then have us wait?! They didn't ask if they were taking any meds. The receptionist seemed rude, like i was bothering her, like they were too busy, no time to attend to customers there, but could make phone calls. Poor customer service!!! Kunia office is much more customer service oriented, efficient, and pleasant to visit!!!

3/8/2014 I had good treatment from the dental hygienists and most of the dentists at The Smiling Place. However, Dr. Caroline Shek gave me a checkup before I deployed to Afghanistan. She also commented negatively about all of the previous work done by a mainland dentist who had installed bridges and crowns. [I've had alot of work done] She commented that my lower crown was touching the upper in the front. She then ground the porcelain crown and the finish off leaving bare metal! I asked her what she was doing and she said my bite was wrong. It didn't look right but I was leaving for Afghanistan and would deal with it when I got back. When I came home I went back to The Smiling Place but asked not to see her and to have her name removed from my chart. I saw another dentist that I was satisfied with. My wife meanwhile went to Dr Shek and ended up paying to have her bridge redone. Dr Shek had ordered it wrong from the dental lab. After the second incident and added expense, I was told by another dentist there to discuss this with Dr. Shek in person. She said I should go back to see Dr. Shek to find out what she would do to make it right. It had been a while since it happened but the dental association allows 7 years to claim to have shoddy work redone . Well I went to see her... and have never seen such a snobby face! When I explained what had happened, she said she does hundreds of mouths and doesn't remember mine or grinding my porcelain crown and there was nothing she could or would do! I will have to spend money again to get another crown because the one she ground down whistles and the black top of my tooth is very visible! She is very rude and has cost us alot of extra expense because of her careless ways .

I would not advise anyone to choose this place. The Dentist (Dr. Lee) made my visits unpleasant.
