I had an appointment for a silk press on July 11th a day before my birthday, (Happy Birthday to Me). I am totally natural and pressed my own hair for years (now 51 years of age) the old school way but now for awhile understanding my hair the new century way. Next statement has nothing to do with the stylist. I liked the weightless, flowing straight feeling but since my hair is already thin, I did not like how it made it look thinner. After a week of wear it started thickening (puffing) up which I liked better. I wore this same silk press with no extra heat added to my hair from 7/11/18 - 8/19/18, washed it out and immediately my natural state of hair was back with no straight hair anywhere. I had no issues with the press nor the length of time I wore it. She also did the same press on my grandchild which her hair is thicker and she loved it for the new school year. I see reviews about the actual owner but I wanted to acknowledge Destiny Pineda, the owners's side by side other hair stylist. Thank you very much for seeing us and getting started ON TIME.

I had a silk press done back in February and was very pleased with the immediate result, but after multiple washes in the weeks following the treatment, a large majority of my hair remained bone straight. This was very upsetting because I had been growing my natural hair out for at least two years and no longer had my curls. I went back to Nevaeh to inquire about the damage on my hair but was seemingly fed a bunch of nonsensical information about my hair lacking moisture, needing to be stripped, etc., even implying that putting my hair in box braids would “train” my hair to be curly again. So after several months of washings and oil treatments and braids, there are parts of my hair that are still extremely straight. I am not sure what is in the products that she uses to treat people’s hair (I asked and was given a rundown of only the “natural” ingredients), but I’d venture to say that there are some chemicals or components in there with longer lasting straightening effects that contradict what is advertised. Very disappointing. If they were going to do something that was akin to perming my hair, I would’ve appreciated a warning beforehand.
