Absolutely the worst experience I could have imagine with a dentist. I grew up having great experiences with dentist and never understood why people complained about having to go. After being treated at OSU dental faculty practice I understand the fear. I assumed because it was part of OSU Medical it would be an outstanding dental practice, I was gravely disappointed. I felt extreme discomfort during my visit, after and currently. I had a simple filling filled about two years ago. I was advised by the dentist (not student) to fill it with metal against my preferences to porcelain, wrong choice. The process was long, bloody and very painful. After, it was uneven and sore for weeks. I started to experience bleeding gums and the sensation as if I was sticking my tongue on a battery. Throughout the following year the filling began to chip away allowing for food to get caught in the cracks and holes, making so I needed to floss after every meal. Ultimately the filling fell out after having it in for my only two years, the dentist guaranteed a long life span on a metal filling, she was once again incorrect. The porcelain filling I had prior by a much better dentist and practice lasted for ten years. On top of it all that they are some of the most expensive practices in Columbus. I highly recommend you save yourself some anguish, pain and money and chose a better practice for your dentistry needs.

I just want to say that Dr Purnima Kumar is one of the worst periodontists we have had. Dr Kumar was assigned to my wife to treat her gum and 80% of her appointments Dr Kumar is either not available or busy and cannot come to give her a check up. we have asked to get a new doctor and they refused saying that we cannot switch to a different one. we have switched to OSU dental faculty from a private practice thinking that we are going to get a better care but it turned up to be a total disappointment. my wife had an appointment today and of course Dr Purnima Kumar didn't show up. After my wife got her cleaning done, the hygienist said that Dr Kumar is not here today. while we were leaving the elevator to the parking garage we bumped to her coming into the elevator. we don't understand why she doesn't care about her patients or is it just us. we do not recommend Dr Kumar to anyone. If we can give her less than one star we would.

Our whole family have been going to this practice for 10 years. The scheduling (especially for the pediatric unit) is really difficult - the doctors are there usually only one day in a week, so this does not leave you with much choice, adn even if you finally make an appointment, they often change it as they please and you can start from the beginning. The care is average - we rather naively thought that if this is the practice where "the doctors do what they teach" it would be excellent, but it is not; it is not even worth the hassle. I think that the doctors have a secure job with tenure so they do not need to compete for patients. Finally, I decided to change the provider. Personally, I do not recommend their servicies.

These people are more disorganized than they should be. They have trouble remembering what they are doing from one appointment to the next, and you have to remind them. They will tell you that they are making an appointment for you, and that they will call you, but they never do. All in all you do not get the feeling that this group of dentists are at the top of their game. Dr. Kumar wrote a prescription for me and dated it a month after my procedure, rather than the day of my procedure. All disconcerting.

The doctor was extremely thorough and took the time to explain everything in terms I could understand. Yes you can't have a cleaning on your first visit but that's because they want to know what shape you teeth are in and put together a long term plan.
