Awesome, my son thinks the world of Mr.Rick and Ms. Tina! This Kenpo school has great discipline..The owners are honest and very trustworthy, this is a rare quality in today's world.

I first started training with and learning from Mr. Rick around 1994 in Mississippi. My initial opinion of him, the breadth of his knowledge, and the quality of his instruction was beyond excellent. Since then, my opinion has strengthened. Although life took me in another direction, and took him in another direction as well, I have followed and kept up with him and Ms. Tina and can say, beyond any doubt, that they are above reproach. After they moved, I actually stayed away from martial arts for quite a while because I did not want to study with and learn from anyone else. I have taken the lessons and training he taught with me on my martial arts endeavors and still use them to this day. I remember vividly the explosiveness of "Fight Night," the fellowship with other academies, the willingness to bring in and learn from other martial arts, the practical applications to combat, and the constant encouragement to individual growth. Mr. Rick and Ms. Tina are top notch. I would recommend them to anyone interested in and desiring to train martial arts. But more importantly, beyond martial arts, they are excellent people.

My son was blessed to be a student at this school for years. Not only did he have to work hard to learn his Kenpo, Mr. Rick and Ms. Tina were role models to the point of becoming like family. When my son first joined at nine years old, he was being bullied at school and had no idea how to defend himself. Learning Kenpo at this school transformed him in so many ways. He learned how to defend himself, but learned so much more through the role modeling and the personal care and attention Mr. Rick and Ms. Tina gave him. He was held accountable for his behavior both on and off the mat, in and out of the school, and he knew he either had to rise to the occasion or face us as a team, parent and teachers. If you want your child to study real martial arts, this is the place to be. Discipline is so rare these days, along with honor and integrity. Premier is a place to find these things, in a true learning environment dedicated to excellence.

Great place. We love it. Love the owners too, very good dedicated people. Brought my son to ATA and that was a joke. I highly Recommend checking this place out before considering anything else.

In this new world of instant communication, it’s very convenient to “comment” and put your “opinion” out there for all to see. Certainly, as is evidenced by Facebook and other social networks, opinions can be erroneous in nature and as vitriolic as is necessary to convey hurt feelings for vengeful purposes. As I do understand Mr. Trowels (whom I have never actually spoken to, since he kept very much to himself at all times in our facility) feelings concerning his son’s dismissal from our classes, I also must take into consideration the suitability of their son for Martial Arts training and the possible negative effect on the rest of the class he attended. This is true for every person that trains in an art that teaches people to hurt others in order to be insured of their ability to stand up for themselves. It must be up to the trained judgment of the Instructors to realize this liability and act upon it. Luckily it rarely is necessary, but is never easy to do. As a parent of three adults and valued members of our society and having been involved with positively affecting children’s lives through Martial Arts for close to 20 years, I acknowledge that my firm handling of our students can be off-putting to some. In the team that my husband and I have created, someone has to play the bad guy sometimes, with the intended result to test and strengthen the resolve of the students towards the hard work that this type of training requires. Hopefully a student learns something about themselves and is better prepared to thrive in a tough world. While it is unfortunate that sometimes a student is found to be unsuitable for our program, and the parent must be informed, in this case the Mrs. had to break the bad news. While Mr. Trowel was never spoken to, Mrs. Trowel was and I suspect her hurt feelings had to be vented somewhere to get the best return. Since I am held in the higher position than her to demonstrate respect and courtesy, none of these transactions with her were done in front of others. It was with all honesty that I conveyed the bad news and where my honor came into play, I’m just not sure. I would venture to guess that more than one parent has found my techniques for teaching their children sometimes harsh, but private intimidation is not one of them. Lastly, I would expect that many more students find my directness to be effective and tolerable. My husband and I welcome all current and new students at our facility, but stress that hard work is expected and necessary. Ms. Tina
