I enjoy training at this academy. The professor Paul Ferranti is a great person on and off the mat. He really knows his bjj stuff and loves to hang out with his students like they were family members. Could not ask for a better place to train.

This school is run by a hot head who has this ridiculous dominance complex he's carried over from his club bouncer days. Students seem to train with him out of fear of him losing his cool at at any moment. I suppose his teaching is average level but unless you want to get punched for 'going hard' against him, I suggest you find a different place to train. Dont believe me? When you walk into the place, on the far wall you'll probably see a patch job on the dry wall from this guy attacking a student and leaving an angry frustration punch in the wall. I'd expect to see this behavior out of a frustrated teenager not a black belt. I suppose whoever gave paul his black belt forgot to teach him patience and humility. Others I have talked to in Rochester have similar experiences with him. He's got a bad rep and it shows.

I've been training at Peloton for about 5 years now and it's like a second home to me. It's a great group of people who are respectful, safe, and open to training with all people. Paul is a great instructor who helps you learn and guides you through the steps of reaching that next level. We have a great kids program, with both boys and girls, that is continuosly growing. The classes consist of a good warm-up, drilling new techniques, training and games. We have had some hot heads stop by every couple of months, aka sportster Joe, who are asked to calm down during training. When you come in with some experience, we expect you to have control over yourselves and respect other people in the room and not hurt any other students. Training is for both people not just one person. Sportster Joe hurt one of our students and then tried to go hard with our instructor Paul. Paul had warned him numerous times to calm down and finally got tired of his bs, kicked him off the mats and out of our school.
