I am unsure what Jason is talking about. My experience with everyone at Waterdown Family Dentistry has been nothing short of pleasant, and eye opening. For years I was seeing the same dentist and always thought my oral health was great. There were no concerns, ever. When I moved to Waterdown, I sought out a new dentist, and was recommended by someone to see Dr. Kaye and Dr. Lee at Waterdown Family Dentistry. I went in for my first new patient appointment and asked to have a cleaning done the same day, as I was due. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist in a very modern comfortable office. Didn't really feel like a dental office. Which is great considering I have a bit of a phobia about the dentist. The hygienist that I had was fabulous, very knowledgeable, personable and offered some great tips. She proceeded to tell me that I had signs of early onset gingivitis. Shocking to me, because I have never had anyone tell me this before. Hmmmmm? Anyway, the cleaning was probably one of the most thorough cleanings I've had. During this appointment I had xrays updated as well, and met with (I believe Dr. Kaye). I told him that I had some sensitivity on one of my teeth that my previous dentist always told me was nothing. He explained everything to me in detail. Said that I would probably need to have a Root Canal on one of my teeth, but was conservative in stating that we could try to repair the filling and see how that goes instead of just diving into a Root Canal. I had the filling done a week or two later and it has not bothered me since. He also told me that there were some superficial cavities that should be addressed as well. Again, how come there are cavities all of a sudden? I was shown pictures in detail and had my xrays explained to me, and to be honest from what was very obvious in my xray, I am surprised that my one tooth did not hurt. So, I'm happy for the explanation. Yes, my appointment was much longer than I had anticipated, but I am glad that he took the time (when I'm sure there are other patients). I am not hear to badmouth my previous dentist. But sometimes you need a pair of fresh eyes to get a second opinion. This office made me feel like I was part of the decision making process. I did not feel ripped off, taken advantage of, or pressured into doing anything, as Jason states in his review. I can understand Jason's skepticism from going to no treatment needed to all of a sudden there are a million things to do. But my opinion is that I would rather be safe than sorry. To anyone reading this, please do not let a single bad review stop you from going to this office. I cannot stand when people post "hate" reviews on businesses. Unless you have been injured, neglected, or treated in a manner that is a personal attack. These reviews can ruin a business. Your opinion on a business...is just that...your opinion. Maybe your experience wasn't what you expected. Or you are in denial of what is being explained to you. If you do not feel right about an office, why state; that even if the diagnosis is true, you will go back to your other dentist. You've just contradicted yourself for stating that this dentist was right but you're going back to your old dentist anyway. Just move on. I feel very at ease when I go for my dental appointments now.

Great work, honest dentist. No complaints at all. Great dentist to bring kids to. My daughter actually likes going to the dentist.

Not entirely impressed! I have had the same dentist for 25 years. Moving to Waterdown put a strain on maintaining my previous dentist logistically as there are based out of Mississauga. I decided to give these guys a try. Nice office, new and flashy however dental cleaning was a disaster, the hygienist complained the entire time. Dental cleaning only included the ultrasonic water pick, no use of the finer handheld instruments (curettes / scalers), no gritty polishing, flossing or fluoride treatments. I didn't even get to rinse my mouth. When I told her my mouth was dry she squirted in water and sucked it right out. I will admit I do unintentionally delay scheduled appointments however my teeth are not in bad shape, and professionalism seemed to "go out the door". Moving on to see the doctor, after multiple X-rays he advised I need a root canal and have an excess of cavities? My teeth do not hurt and even though I needed a small filling repaired he insisted on a root canal... then he went on to say my previous dentist of 25 years has mismanaged me and my family, and only "covers things up" as opposed to dealing with the root of the problem. I'm not suggesting that his assessment of my teeth was incorrect however due to 2+ hours of complaining, and insults directed towards my previous dentist this experience just placed a bad taste in my mouth. (No pun intended). Is his assessment correct? Perhaps, however the professionalism is just not there; as such I will be seeking a second opinion. Even if his assessment shows to be true, I will not be returning there.
