Over the past four years! I always have a great experience at Virginia Family Dentistry in Mechanicsville, VA. I can be myself, and they can be themselves. Dr. Mark Bond is very considerate and understands the sensitivity of his patients. He also gives his staff room to work and learn. I have never heard him be critical about anything. Dr. Bond cares about the procedures he performs on patients and always does a high quality job, leaving you always feeling numb. :-) On top of all that, you can joke with them and they joke with you. Very laid back - if you know what I mean. :-) Anyway, if you haven't selected a dentist yet, I recommend Dr. Bond.

Kudos to Halifax Community College Dental Hygiene Program for teaching Kendall Kidd to be the best, most informative hygienist that I have ever had. Kendall is extremely competent and shared more knowledge about dental hygiene than I have heard in 40 years. Of course, Dr. Flanagan is pretty awesome, too.

I came to this office after a poor experience elsewhere. They have been very helpful and along, helping me navigate and clearly explaining everything they were doing. They were much more in tune with my anxiety while working on my tooth and suggested I bring earbuds and listen to music and even used a bite plate thing to hold my mouth open so I didn't have to think about it. I was able to crank my music and zone out and pretend I wasn't getting a root canal. Everyone is so friendly as well. I'm really looking forward to continuing with this team.

This review is somewhat long but dentist & I have never been compatible, and that's been reason enough for me to stay away as long as possible. Well, broke a tooth and ignored it for a good long time, and I mean a LONG time. Things got to a point that the remainder of that tooth decided it would no longer be ignored. No way was I'm going back to any dentist's of the past that cultivated my anti dentist fears in the first place. That's when my search for a new dentist began. Searched under the "Best Dentist of 2017" in my area. The way I saw it, if I'm going to suffer, it may as well be at the hands of someone good. VA Family Dentistry popped up. Seventy eight reviews and 98% five stars. Not only that, but one of the postings was from a friend I never knew who visited this location. Gave them a call the next morning and they took me in an hour later. From there it was 10 stars. Receptionist to Doctor. Never in my life have I met an entire staff of people so friendly, professional and fun to be around. They did the work efficiently and WITHOUT pain. A 1ST!! Needless to say, everything about my visit deserved 10 stars. Doctor Roper and Cindy were so good, I asked them if they could do some of the other dental work that's been neglected for so long during that same visit? They couldn't, but I will surely go back to get it done!

The entire staff has always been very kind, but my five-star rating is for Jonathan, a dental hygienist. A few traumatic experiences when I was younger left me with a crippling phobia of going to the dentist office. Jonathan has been incredible in helping me go from needing nitrous oxide for cleanings to not shedding a tear during my visits. His kindness and gentle approach have brought me to a place I never could have imagined. I’d highly recommend going to see Jonathan.
