Poor customer service. Screwed up my escrow account and delayed payment on my mortgage because of it. Tried to update information on the mortgage and was told I had to refinance. Better have a good lawyer when dealing with these guys.

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! This company hold my insurance money for more than 3 months while I'm still paying interest to this company. My house was hit by hurricane "Harvey" back in last August, and my loan was transferred to Mr.Cooper last November. Then this company claimed it will take weeks to get contractor license waiver approved while not even pay an initial payment for me to repair my house. Now it looks like the waiver is approved, but it still requires more docs to review for its approval. I have nothing to say... Now I know why it changed its name from "Nation Star" to "Mr.Cooper" --- Because this company has really bad reputation. Mr.Cooper, give me my money!

Most mortgage companies, I think, remain pretty invisible in the 'day to day' of home ownership. And Mr. Cooper, formerly Nationstar, was too... That is until they sold my loan to another mortgage company. They sent me my usual statement, which sat on the counter until the following payday, when I wrote the check and put the payment in the post... around the 22nd of the month. A day or two later, I received a letter from them informing me that my loan had been sold and that my December payment would need to be sent to Wells Fargo. Well, since the payment had already been sent there wasn't much I could do... so I called. I was informed that they would either forward the check to Wells Fargo, or return it to me. Why they couldn't tell me which course of action they would take was never made clear, in spite of my questioning them on that matter. Nor could they adequately explain why, if the loan was being sold, did they send me a statement for December's payment! So now, I'm waiting for this check to clear... having to make sure that I reserve the funds in my checking account on the off chance that instead of sending the check to me, Mr. Cooper has sent it to Wells Fargo. Which means I could be waiting weeks... months... for this check to clear. If my mortgage company is going to be less than invisible in the 'day to day' of home ownership, I'd prefer that they not make my life more difficult in the process. Lastly, Mr. Cooper's Yelp reviews are very different from what I'm reading here on Google. If you're considering using them as your mortgage company you would do well to read what customers on Yelp have to say.

HORRIBLE!!! I DO NOT recommend Mr. Cooper. My home got 52" of flood water compliments of Hurricane Harvey. I've been working at the house EVERY SINGLE DAY since then. My insurance company issued an advance check to help me start repairs. A Mr. Cooper rep instructed me to send them the check and said that it would be endorsed and sent back to me via overnight mail. I called over a week after they received the check and was told that my case was with an executive committee because it’s over $20,000 (it’s $25,000). Now they want receipts proving I've spent the advance before they'll release funds to me. It's an ADVANCE CHECK. I shouldn't have to prove I've spent the funds. I’ve been paying this mortgage and insurance for over SIX YEARS. Do they really think I’m going to skip town with a measly $25,000? My neighbors with other mortgage companies all have the funds from their advances. Meanwhile, I'm living in my gutted home without walls, floors, appliances, etc while the awesome Mr. Cooper sits on my check. They do not care about their customers and either they lie or have untrained representatives answering customer calls.
