18 holes right outside of state college. When it's in good shape it's every bit as good as the other big money courses in the state college area. The fairways are plush, sloping and hazard filled. The greens are big, undulating and usually fast. The bunkers (while not a ton of them) are deep and foreboding should you wind up in one. Is #16 the most scenic hole in PA? Not sure, but definitely a top contender. I play it from the blacks and the course is long and a challenge to say the least. One stray shot and you're either in the trees or in the bottom of a 20ft bunker. Even if it's right down the middle there are so many hazards and creeks that run through the fairways that it's no guarantee. If you want to drink with the other old guys in the bar, this isn't the course as the facilities are pretty bare bone but if you want to actually play a great course without the pretentious country club atmosphere this is the place. Awesome course with reasonable rates and specials. Keep it up Skytop.

This course and the staff constantly go above and beyond. They have your cart ready when you arrive and even bring it right to your car! The course is always well kept and it has some of the most beautiful scenery you'll ever be able to play golf around. For the price you can not find a better 18 in the area.

If you are looking to get into golf, I highly recommend golf lessons with Jeremy. I had basically no experience before the lessons and a couple of friends and I did the group lessons so 4 lessons + a bonus lesson where you play a couple of holes. We started with putting, chipping, pitching, and then driving. I am now hooked! Jeremy is very professional but also very fun and makes the sport very enjoyable. He is very encouraging too. Also the golf club is beautiful! We saw deer running across the driving range one night even.

Staff is friendly and rates are very reasonable. Secluded out of the way and not very crowded so it's great for a hacker like me. The course is very narrow and very difficult and the woods are thick so get ready to lose a box worth of balls over 18. Maintenance of the course has gotten a lot better in recent years particularly removing most of the overgrowth from hole 2 but the place is still a bit rough around the edges. You will hit buried rocks a lot. Greens are usually in decent shape. The place is literally in the middle of the woods so some of the holes are actually very pretty. All in all though you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Took lessons here and got fitted for clubs. Lessons were a ton of fun, I learned a whole lot and got so much better over the course of my lessons. Beautiful coarse with lots of wildlife and great surroundings. I took lessons in a group of four and they gave us great group instruction but also a ton of one on one instruction as well. Great place to learn and get better at golf.
