I have mixed feelings about Lucky Wishbone. On one hand, it's a long-standing pillar of the Anchorage dining community. Locals eat here more than tourists, which is good. Many items on the menu are scratch-made and delicious; the pan-fried chicken stands out as the obvious example. The milkshakes, too, are fantastic. On the other hand, the menu is hit-or-miss. Step outside of their standard turf of burgers and fried chicken, and you're in a minefield. I ordered a fried fish sandwich that was just a store bought frozen fish. (It's Alaska . . . fish is a big deal). The iced tea is not freshly brewed. The fries are exactly like McDonald's fries. Those little annoyances add up, I'm afraid. Still, if you want fried chicken and an amazing malted milk shake in a truly Alaskan environment, look no further.

This is a historical spot in Anchorage and it's long tenure in the city becomes apparent when you visit. Pictures of it's history is all over the walls, and their food is the pinnacle of comfort food in the city and It ranks among the top eateries in Anchorage. Quick and friendly service with a "southern hospitality" like charm make Lucky Wishbone a must visit for locals / tourist alike.

To be honest, the burgers tasted exactly like McDonald's does, even the onions were cut the same and the cheese was the same taste as McDonald's. I haven't tried anything else, but the coleslaw and I liked it. I ordered the Swiss Bacon Burger. I heard this place is famous, but am not sure why, do I was actually disappointed. The service is like any other place, so they take care. The hostess waited to seat us until she put drinks, silverware and the likes on the table, which didn't make logical sense to me. I would've rather sat down first. If you're looking for a diner in the style of a road trip film, this is it. With the pale colors, green booths, nostalgic photos strung on the walls and a homey feel. I did enjoy that because it's unique. I won't come back though.

I have been going to lucky wishbone for a very very long time. Had not been there in quite some time but was in the area so I stopped in with family. Not a thing has changed busy busy awesome service and fantastic eats and shakes! Cheeseburger, fries, onion rings and Fried chicken and a couple shakes it’s all still so great served fast and tastes awesome.

Super yummy food! Love all of their foods. Try one of the malted desserts! And the fried chicken. Serving sizes are larger than what is supposed to be an average amount of food, but not extremely so.They are a little pricey but worth it.
