What a neighbor gem! California cuisine at its best. Make sure you have reservations or grab a seat at the bar serving the same menu. Local tip: Ask to see if the seats at the Chef’s counter is free and watch the chef prepare your food.

I absolutely love wood tavern. Such a great Oakland restaurant. The prices are pretty good and I like their decor as well, very good place!

Great food and service. Had the pork chop and it was amazing. Will definitely be going back.

Did not have a great experience. Food was mediocre. Sent back pork chop that was overcooked. Service was slow and when we were chatting a bit after our meal that took forever to get to our table a Busboy asked us to leave because others were waiting. Maybe it was a bad night but I won't be returning.

Luckily we made a reservation on a Thursday because the place was packed! Started with the pumpkin gnocchi with mushrooms and brussel sprouts, which was very savory. Service was good, but they forgot our bread so we didn’t get it until after our first course. Bread was really good though! I got the Alaskan halibut, which was perfectly seared and seasoned, but pretty dry. I preferred my friend’s pork chops which were delicious (it was sitting in a bacon-based sauce which might have helped...) Ended the night with a pear tart paired with a scoop of bourbon ice cream. SO GOOD! Highly recommend. Overall, great dining experience and wish my main course came out better.
