We waited a about 10 min before they allowed us in as the long was really long on the inside. They brought us menus outside so that we could decide before going in. We finally got inside and stood in line to order, this is definitely a hole in the wall kind of place. The cashiers were super nice and answered any questions we had about the menu. Food came out super fast ! we ordered a variety of things. first off, that famous ham is not good. it was bland like it had been sitting in water all day. maybe it was famous years ago when Mother herself was making it. But I won't let that kill the review that was just my personal experience. We had pancakes, gumbo, fried shrimp, a little bit of everything. Every thing was good except for that ham. The lady who brought out our food was super nice and she even brought a pitcher of lemonade to the table because we enjoyed it so much. The pancakes are huge and super fluffy, and they serve with warm syrup.

I think this place is great. Whenever I come to New Orleans we eat here a couple times. The best red beans and rice. The ham the sat is the best is just ok. But they make an amazing pecan pie! Not sickly sweet but with a great texture. My sister has trouble walking and even with a line (it was short ) they had her come in to sit instead of waiting in line. So nice. 😊

Visiting New Orleans. We like to find places that are a bit out of the way and non touristy, places where the locals go. Long line to order but it moved very quickly. Once we sat at our table a server quickly came and took our ticket. Food arrived quickly afterwards. The portions were huge and very tasty. I had the baked ham, my wife the jambalaya and both were excellent.

This place was SO hyped to me before I went that I expected a LOT from it. It was fine, don't get me wrong, but it didn't blow me away. The seafood gumbo was good and had a nice spice kick to it. The roast beef po boy with the drippings was good, but not incredible. The bread pudding with brandy sauce was pretty great, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes bread pudding! The place is small and cramped, especially given how busy it is. If you go during peak hours, you probably won't find a seat. You wait and order in line, paying when you get up to the registers. The whole thing is pretty chaotic, honestly. If you aren't going to eat there l, I recommend calling ahead for take out. Especially if you are claustrophobic!

We ate breakfast, eggs, grits, smoked sausage. No bacon or potatoes available. Food was tasty including the fresh made biscuits. Service was poor. You stand in line to order, pay, then go to your table. A "server" picks up your receipt and brings the food when its ready. Even though there were plenty of empty tables, the server cleaned our table while my wife waited for me including clearing, wiping and setting new flatware. Felt like we were being rushed out.
