I come from a foodie city (Louisville - you probably don't know much about it but it is on the food network A LOT) and New Orleans did not impress me with its food selections. I was expecting way more out of it because it has its own style and local flavor but every place I went seemed to prey on tourists (and yes I did my research first). The Ruby Slipper was the one place I was able to go and have food on par with that a get at home. The ambiance was good, and the location is interesting. So my suggestion is that if you are in New Orleans, skip most of the other junk and just go here.

I got the Southern Breakfast and loved it. My wife got shrimp and grits and loved it too. Good portions and very helpful that they text you when your table is ready. We were able to walk around on a nice day instead of waiting in the entrance for the table to open up.

I was starting to lose faith in NO and the mediocre food we have had the past couple of days. Let me tell you about these pancakes I got...WOW. They were so good and possibly the best ive ever had. If you like sweet and salty go for the bacon and pecan one they are the best!! My girlfriend got the Peacemaker and she loved it as well. I highly recommend this place.

Get here early to avoid waiting. Although it is worth the wait. Interesting menu choices. Eggs Blackstone was good and my wife loves the pancakes. Very generous portion on the huge pancakes. A definite recommend.

Delicious food. So many vegetarian options and everything we tried was amazing. They close at 2 and we were waiting on friends, but they waited and made us feel super welcome despite being about to close. Amazing service. Try the cold brew coffee!
