Ambitious attempt at maintaining an elegance from our industrialist past. Food is above average. Omelet was over cooked. Service was acceptable. Our pleasant waiter was young and somewhat inexperienced in a stained vest. There was a female server who was clearly the star with her vibrant personality and detailed knowledge. We overheard her glowing culinary descriptions. The tour was quite nice. Our guide was fearful of ghosts and did not want to indulge in the stories. Quite pricey.

I attended their Absinthe training class and it was a fantastic experience. I had previously tried the "green fairy" years back in Prague, and it was a fantastic experience, but everything I read about North American distilled absinthe was that they didn't use the wormwood, so it wouldn't be the same experience. Whether they used it or not, this class was a fantastic journey back to 19th century Europe. With the class you got to partake in 3 different concoctions created with absinthe. Along with that came a taster course that absolutely delicious. I would recommend this event highly.

This place can be expensive, but the food is very delicious. We didn't get the chance to go to the dessert bar, but we did go on the free tour, which was very cool. The tour guide also informed us of other events they have there, which would be very cool to attend. If you're looking for a nice dinner, this is the place to go! Parking can be tricky though, and bring cash for tips. 😁

Awesome experience! Food outstanding, our waiter Daniel was Perfect!!! Tour of the house, incredible. The manager even came over to welcome us and wish us Happy Anniversary. Well worth the drive.

I took my 10 year old daughter and her best friend to the dessert parlour at the Whitney. She had been wanting to visit for a while and we were getting ready to relocate to Philadelphia, so we thought we would get in a visit at the last minute. I wasn't sure how child friendly it would be, which is why we were putting it off and decided to just do dessert. I wish we would have been sooner though because we would have definitely visited more often while we were still living in Michigan. The wait staff was incredible, spending extra time to share ghost stories and give us a mini tour (we were the first party for evening service so they had a little more time than normal). My daughter was blown away by how wonderful everyone was and made her experience even better than she ever imagined. I think our server's name was Jen (Sorry if I am wrong, she should really get some kudos). She was fantastic and even sent us home with extra scones that were left over from tea time to be able to have tea time at our own house. Everyone really went out of their way to make it special for my daughter (and all of us) and it was one of the best experiences we have had in a restaurant. When we are back in the area visiting, we will make sure to stop by for dessert again :)
