We saw the ad for Up Down in the Missouri travel catalog that you find at the welcome center. We found out way to Independence. Town is very cute. Up Down is retro like a 50s diner. Staff was ok, need to be more personable. At first hot dogs seem high in price but when you see the great combinations you say what the heck. I had the Top Dog. Bun was amazing, super moist and hot dog is very good quality. Chili cheese fries are super yummy. Very worth the money.

Hot dogs taste pretty good. I had the bacon chili cheese dog with a little cream cheese added. Nice folks here. Brought the granddaughter and she likes too. Nice place for lunch

So we decided to skip the long waits for Valentine's day and come to Up Dog. The counter staff was genuinely happy that we came in. Mind you we were dressed in proper attire for a more elegant venue. They were attentive as they made some suggestions from the vast menu and rang us up. By the time we'd chosen our drinks (Polly's Pop) our 'dogs were hitting the table hot and fresh. Everything was wondeful and the perfect Valentine's day dinner was consumed. Yes it was intimate and romantic and definitely memorable. We may have to make this a tradition.

Fun place to get creative with your hot dog! A little pricey, but good food. The fries and tater tots are some of the best in town! Locally owned and operated on the Historic Independence Square.
