Best Chinese food I've ever had. Period. This is not your typical Chinese takeout. This is serious stuff and there is pretty much nothing they don't serve when it comes to Chinese food. My 2 favorites are the Flounder Filets and the Cumin Lamb. Pretty much there is nothing they serve that is not good. Been here maybe 20 times and never had a bad meal. This is as dry restaurant so come to enjoy the food, not the booze!

Since Chengdu #1 relocated to Central New Jersey, there is a major gap in high quality traditional Chinese cuisine. Chengdu 23 is the best option that I've found in the area. Service is good. The food is fresh and tasty. A good option in an area drowning in Italian food, tacos and fast food (nothing against those options, but variety IS the spice of life).

Great authentic menu. Service is usually pretty good. If you've been looking for soup dumplings this is the spot.

If you like spicy food. Try Triple pepper chicken and beef brisket noodle soup. You will love it

The food has definitely gone downhill. No more dim sum. One of our favorites, lamb with cumin, tasted only if old frying oil. This was our favorite Chinese restaurant in Jersey for years, but something has changed. Update: We gave them another chance, and we were disappointed again. Dan dan noodles we're made with overcooked spaghetti.
