A blast from the past! Cool, old school diner in the middle of a college town with kind staff. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I got tradition egg salad and fiancee got patty melt which he said was in his top five. Would definitely recommend for a quick bite!

I did not expect this. An old friend of mine suggested this place to me about a month ago, but I finally got around to checking it out. It's Davidson, so it seemed like a hole-in-the wall kind of place to me. Very small, not a ton of seating. 4 girls on duty in the front, couple of cooks in the back. Each booth could hold up to 4 people, but if they arranged the tables you could probably get 6-8 people at a table. Food was very good, very reasonably priced. A burger with a side was $8-9, depending on what you chose. Milkshakes were a bit expensive for their size, so I avoided that. Seriously considered a sundae though, maybe next time. Waitstaff was very polite, too. Our waitress was at tentative, but she also seemed as though she was trying to avoid having to talk to us - which I didn't really appreciate. Perhaps it was a bad day, so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I still left 20%. Parking nearby can be tricky depending on when you come, but the angled spots across the street are easy to get into, but a bit tricky to get out of. Just be aware. Most of the parking is parallel parking. I would definitely recommend it if you want great food for a reasonable price, with friendly staff and a very nice ambiance.

We stopped for breakfast before the Davidson Christmas parade. They were extremely busy and the service was great (5/5). Food came out quickly and was pretty good (4/5). The atmosphere is great. In a time where every chain is the same, the Soda Shop stands out as being unique. It's small town, locally owned, small business at it's best. The only "complaint" or negative thing I could say would be that we were served our meal on plastic plates with plastic utensils. This was a huge surprise. For this reason and this reason only they lost a star. The Soda Shop is fantastic in every other way. Please do away with the plastic and get that additional star.

Terrible! DO NOT EAT HERE! The owner is horribly rude and obnoxious and the food was cold. When they messed up my order they blamed it on me and acted as if it were a major inconvenience to them. For the rest of my meal I was given the death stare by the owner. Save your money and eat else were trust me. This place is the worst.

Food is great and the staff was very attentive. I'm not sure what the previous reviews were saying about the staff. They were friendly and always out front and eager to help if you had a request/problem. Only gave 4 stars as the place smelled very (EXTREMELY) musty.
