Wonderful experience. It really was worth the rave reviews we've heard. The lighting was low and romantic, but we were given little lights to review the menu. Super considerate! The wait staff was amazing! Some guy (an employee?) was doing magic tricks for the table next to ours, which was funny to watch. There was live jazz in the corner. Our food was delicious! I had the Steak Diane, which entailed a gentleman cooking it tableside while weaving a tale about the origin of the name. It was very entertaining. The steak Diane was phenomenal. Everything I wanted in a steak. If you can afford it, I suggest trying this place for your next special occasion!

My husband and I had a spontaneous date night here. My great aunt used to talk about this place and its music, and I've never been. I called them ahead of time and was told the lounge was packed but there was seating available in the dining room. We made a reservation and arrived five minutes late thanks to unexpected traffic, but we were seated immediately with no flak. This restaurant is very quiet, which is a blessing because I have sensitive hearing. The dining experience was fantastic. The food was delicious and I was pleased to see that they had three solid vegetarian options available on the menu. We ordered the vegan entree and to our surprise the chef came out to check on our meal to ensure it was to our satisfaction(!). Throughout the evening the service was fabulous and the maître d' was the most engaging person we'd ever spoken to. He and our server are truly what made it a memorable experience. The music was live and divine as well. Overall we agreed that we were hugely satisfied and that we'll return. Yes the bill was over $100, and it's rare for vegetarians like us to crack that $100 mark for an evening out as it's mostly meat menu items that tend to be expensive. But for the food and quality of service, the price was totally commensurate and happily paid. I should add, that because we sat in the dining room that there was no cover fee for the live jazz.

Three of us - mature women all - went to Wilfs to enjoy a glass or two of wine and hear some jazz. We were aware of the $8.00 cover charge for the music and knew it was an expensive restaurant but we were not planning to eat dinner and thus were rather stunned to hear that there was a required $18.00 charge for food and drink. This information was not included anywhere on the website. The waiter who served us was so rude that we wondered whether he felt having to wait on three mature women was beneath him. On top of that, the onion soup looked and tasted burnt and was hardly edible. We all agreed, Wilfs will not be seeing us again.

I was there last night. Three people enjoying a night. The only issue I had was the scalloped potatoes were raw. Even reheating them, was horrible. Our replacement was a quarter cup of mashed potatoes. For three people with inedible sides. Music was great. Really annoyed that I recommended for a birthday celebration.

Nice restaurant and bar in the historic Union railroad station in downtown Portland. The staff seem to always ask people if they were taking the train which was kind of fun. Upscale so the prices reflect that but not too bad. The soup I ordered was quite good.
