Went for my wife's birthday and sat at the Chef's counter. Very enjoyable to watch the cook and prepare the dishes. The service was excellent and attentive! Several dishes were exceptional, while one or two fell flat. The main course of duck was quite tasty. Atmosphere is a bit loud. Really enjoyed our meal and would definitely return.

My wife and I came in and had the tasting menu with duck before the theater. Everything was equally excellent from the kindness of the staff, the efficiency and skill of our bartender, to the actual food and drink. It was a great experience all the way around, and although completely full, it felt cozy and not packed. The menu is traditional Jewish deli remade for a contemporary audience. The chicken liver is moussed to make it lighter and less powerful. The whitefish salad is not salty and light. The pickels powerfully vinegary with great flavor. It was all really nice. A great night out, but do make reservations because it gets crowded.

Expert service! Attentive without being intrusive. I wish i had taken more photos. The Cholent pot pie was beefy savory thick with gravy tender veggie and melt in your mouth beef cheek meat. The chicken liver mousse was silky and rich, yet light as air texturally... These two were the stars of our meal however each dish was so well prepared and tasty that it's almost not fair to pick favorites.

Excellent location, great food, but you get so little for the money that you wonder if it makes sense to even eat there. $13 for two small latkes with cheese in them, for example. Well, I suppose the price reflects portion of the rent in a hip location, plus salaries for all the people involved. It's a nice place for a bite if you feel like blowing a lot of your money on a really small meal.

Unsurprisingly this restaurant provided a great experience and a delicious meal. The decor is like a fancy dark diner and all of the food is upscale Jewish style. Instead of a normal cured fish you're going to have gin cured fluke, and beside that you'll have the fanciest cheese blintze you've ever tried. On top of that the drinks and drink selection are great. My one comment is that the staff was a bit too eager to take our plates so I missed a final bite on one or two dishes but I mentioned it and they corrected so it wasn't worth taking a Star off.
