The customer service was great and the sweet tea is good. I ordered smothered chicken breast and I was thinking I would get just that but I got a piece of fried chicken with gravy drizzled on top. This location was convenient from some attractions but food wasn't all that great. You pay about $5-6 for a meat and then any side is $.99 cents. However, if you have a family that $.99 can add up pretty quickly per side.

From the friendly greeting to the fast service to the excellent food, which is after all why we were here, we loved this place. I am vegan and as soon as I said that the owner told me which dishes would be ok. I had black eyed peas, mixed greens, yellow rice, cabbage, fried okra and a sweet potato muffin and each of them was excellent. My non vegan husband had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and greens and declared them all delicious. Oh and my drink was an Obama, more commonly known as an Arnold Palmer but Arnold ain't got no tea in him.

Great little restaurant! Hung out with my sisters during Black Restaurant Week 2018. Fast friendly service. Being southern ladies, we all had fried catfish. Small vegetable portions, but the food was good.

Actually pretty great place to get your soul food fix if your in the S Main area. Get their fried pork chop and a couple (or several) of their sides. Set up like a traditional soul food meat & 3 where you walk through the line & just point at what you want. I usually grab it to go but the atmosphere there is great as well (albeit a tad small if you're more than 3 people).

Expected better soul food...Meatloaf taste very greasy with like a hint of oregano and barbecue sauce as topping, mashed potatoes were decent but lacked butter, macaroni was delicious and creamy, cabbage was not seasoned properly, Obama beverage was pretty tasty, sweet potato muffins had a bit much spice/cinnamon flavor, and banana pudding was different but fairly good...real banana chunks. By the way my meal totaled to $22.87 although it is called 99cent Soul Food. Maybe 99cent Sides (at least some of them). Hope the company continues to read consumer posts to meet more customer's expectations. Love soul food!!!
