I recently vacationed in Austin. I asked around for good BBQ and everyone recommended Coopers. The food was amazing and true southern/Texas BBQ food. The brisket melts in your mouth and the rib was amazing. It was a tad expensive (brisket $22) rib ($16), but well worth it in the end. The jalepeno mac n cheese is amazing and they have an unlimited supply of all you can eat self served beans/condiments.

Extremely convenient and fast. Been here 10+ times. If you are staying at downtown and do not have the time to make a line at one of the top tier BBQ places of Austin this one gets close. The brisket is sometimes top notch, sometimes a tad below but will not disappoint. The beef rib is similar. The half chicken is a very good deal (but get brisket if you are trying Texas BBQ for the fist time). Some people say is too salty, I think it's just fine.

Good selection of BBQ meats. A little pricy but worth it. Buy your cuts by the pound and then pick out sides (sides are good but just buy more meat). Good selection of local craft beers at the bar also. I'm not big on sauce for my BBQ so my opinion there isn't very informed but it was light and tangy from what I tasted. Would visit again.

Definitely over-rated. The BBQ here was absolutely average and I have had much better in places outside of Texas. I'm guessing the high ratings are for the ambiance. They offer a very Texas feel. But the great BBQ just is not here. Dry chicken, sour-ish sauce, watery beans, and cheap sliced bread from a value market instead of rolls. Quite expensive. for what you get.

Awesome by the pound BBQ! They have turkey, pork, brisket and ribs. You order by the pound where they cut the meat slices in front of you, then like cafeteria style you move along to pick your sides. Once you pay you can choose to sit out in the patio or inside at any of the bench seating. There is complimentary beans and pickles at the table. There is a bar if anyone cares for something harder than iced tea. I didn't particularly like the BBQ sauce so I'm glad I got it on the side. But the meat was delicious and moist.
