Great place to eat if going to round top. Expect to wait.... the place is small but food and pies worth the trip. My group of three was seated with two other couples of two which was great to get to know others who had come to round top for the day. The only down side was the music speaker was just above our table and it was very hard to have a conversation except with the person right next to you. The service was great. Girls are very friendly and get your food out in a timely manner. My party had the fish tacos, shrimp and bacon salad, and the steak sandwich ALL very good. And of course we had to have pie. None are bad. We shared the three pieces we ordered. Make this a must place to eat when going to round top.

GREAT review from Brenda P on Yelp!! I am Brenda’s husband and I’m very proud of her. I’ve been in customer service related fields for over 30 years (six of which were serving our great nation), mostly in leadership capacities. I believe the statement made by my wife in regards to race being a factor to be accurate. The owner reached out to her today in an attempt to make it right, claiming that he’s certain that race wasn’t a factor (I’m appreciative of that). However, he wasn’t present when we dealt with the service rep. He was adamant at “not” sitting us with approximately a dozen empty seats in the small dining area. He even suggested that we order and eat on the porch of the restaurant. At $32 a pop for a pie (which I’m certain is good) along with other add on items would have come up to a good ticket for our time. (Please note there were five of us attempting to sit and eat.) A claim was apparently made referencing minority employees at the diner. This doesn’t eliminate the fact that we were denied seats. Making that statement is like a racist claiming to have “black” friends, therefore they shouldn’t be considered racists. Absurd! Anyhow, I’m hopeful this clarifies some things.

This place is amazing! Seriously, just go. We just drove 2 + hours each way from San Antonio, to eat! And it was totally worth it! I finally got to eat at a place that I first heard about on Anthony Bourdain's show on the Travel Channel. It's a tiny hole in the wall with amazing comfort food and the most incredible selection of fresh baked pie you have ever seen. Cool, very funky vibe, and a bunch of really friendly people. And the drive through Central Texas this time of year (late April) is absolutely beautiful.

Population 90 with some of the best food you will eat anywhere. And the greatest people. The Royer family and "family" is the best. There's not a bad item on the menu. Close your eyes and point...you can't go wrong.

The fried chicken was amazing! Bring your appetite. Great cozy small town cafe. The menu was very diverse with options like lamb and fried oysters but still maintaining great country food. The prices are a bit steep but how many times to you eat in a tourist area. Great country hospitality. Can't wait to revisit
