Tried Breakfast and found it to be bland tasting and way too much starch like potatoes. the menu item said large portions, but i only found the hashbrowns being large and the 2 giant pancakes everything else ordered was small to average size. The French toast was awful and soggy. The bacon was too salty and the ham was of bad quality and 1/2 the portion size that other establishments would offer. Only thing good was the Glass of Milk, eggs, and the Pancakes. The overall atmosphere is nice and the staff was nice, but that doesn't justify enough for the lousy food hence only giving 1 star. The cook, however, needs to know how to prep foods better; how can one mess up on easy-to-make french toast is my guess that can't be answered. And i didn't get a large roll of which i asked for but was told its for lunch patrons, but i saw people eating breakfast that got them. I will try them for Lunch one day, but not Breakfast. The Prices were a bit overpriced compared to other places serving breakfast, but i guess since its connected to a casino they can raise prices up.

I tend to only write positive reviews, so don't let my rating trend dissuade you... I've been eating at the Lakewood Black Bear at least once a week for the last few months and have only positive experiences to share. The food is clearly better sourced and prepared than other chain diners by a few notches. The customer service is also more refined and they go the extra mile to accommodate their patrons. So, when I get that breakfast for dinner craving -- you know what I'm talking about... Black Bear is my stop.

May i recommend for any time of day for any meal. Their food is delicious, portioned fairly large, and the amazing service I've received every time i walk in this diner is stellar. All the way from the servers & hosts/hostesses all the way to the management has ample skills to solve any problem you may encounter. I'd have to recommend the chicken fried steak if I may suggest one plate of food no human can resist. It's mouth watering and fills me up every time. Love the the cute little bear shop they have at the entrance as well. Atmosphere-check, food- delicious, people- amazing! If you haven't visited you should make some time

Thoroughly enjoyed our first experience with this chain. Food was good, and the staff were very friendly....loved the decor ....such a happy place...... two odd things that made this a four star... to refill our water glasses the waiter walked away from our table WITH our glasses and returned with them refilled OR? It took us a while to figure that yes they had been refilled and then several moments to determine if he had gotten the right glass to the right person. It really took us aback so much so that we requested that a pitcher of water be brought to our table and left with us. The second issue was that of all days ...MOTHER'S DAY....with a CROWDED restaurant the air condition was OFF....we as seated guests where hot...I cannot imagine what the scurrying staff must have endured. Surely management could have called an emergency number to get it turned on!!!! Having worked in the industry I know there is always emergency numbers available to call!

If you have not visited a Black Bear Diner it is a great place to eat. We used to eat at the one in Olympia typically for breakfast. I met my siblings at this restaurant and for a table of 12 people the service was pretty good. Nobody's coffee cup was left empty for long and the food overall was very good. The decor is kind of fun. The dessert options are quite good!
