Authentic Greek restaurant decorated with Greece national color -- blue and white. The restaurant has a tall ceiling and big windows so that it looks very spacious. They serve a variety of Greek foods, which taste very good. And they also have wines from Greece. It's a good place to have a party and enjoy some Mediterranean flavored food.

Penelope has all of the outer refinement you would expect of a Financial District restaurant. The interior is tasteful, but subtle. The tables are shrouded in elegance. The food, however, can range from the humdrum to the spectacular. The spinach and cheese pie I ordered was decidedly the former. The pie itself was lukewarm and lacked seasoning. The rice it was accompanied by was cold and utterly flavourless. It tasted a bit like a particularly shoddy Jimmy the Greek takeaway. The roasted potatoes were nothing to write home about either. For $19, you would expect a great deal more. The cheesecake, on the other hand, was outstanding. It was light, fluffy, and luscious. It went a long way towards atoning for the poor entree. The service, as one would expect, was thoroughly professional. On the whole, I do not see myself returning to Penelope. A $45 lunch ought to be memorable. While the cheesecake was delightful, the mediocre entree left a lot to be desired.

Went here for a family birthday dinner. I did not know this until too late, but parking is free under the building. You can get a voucher from the restaurant (yaay). Food was really good. A little pricey but beautiful decor and wonderful staff. The location is really convenient to the Toronto theatre district. Many bars etc close by for after dinner drinks. I remember going here years ago and it has held its consistency.

Lovely setting, but very loud. Service was very slow, and our waiter was a bit dismissive. When the appetizers arrived, no bread of any kind was served with the saganaki, so I had to wait another 10 minutes to flag down a waiter, by which time the cheese was cooling off. The entrees were all overcooked and under-seasoned. The rice was made from packaged par-cooked Uncle Ben's, I'm pretty sure. The only reason it gets 2 stars instead of 1 is that the location can't be beat for shows at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.

Reasonably priced given it's location and market value. Went with a group and we all enjoyed our meals (lamb, pork, chicken, and beef). They offer complimentary parking, so if you plan to visit Roy Thompson Hall, dinner here is highly recommended.
