Made a promise to our son years ago that if he achieved Eagle Scout, I would take him to Frontera. Being NC natives, not a small promise. Took a while with HS and college honors graduations as additional incentives. Finally, Navy boot camp graduation made it a reality. The mole own it’s own made it worth the trip. Salsa, Frontera beer, everything was outstanding. Highly recommended! Oh, one complaint. While the salsas are outstanding, would prefer large soup bowl amounts.

Bathrooms labeled in Spanish. Had to wait to see which gender came out of which door so I could use the restroom. Wow, can't write it in English as well or put gender symbols on the door. Hostess said 40 min wait. I waited over 2 hours. The hostess would seat Spanish speaking customers that just came in while making English speaking customers wait. Way to set the bar for customer service. But, guess when your restaurants are that successful, you no longer have to worry about satisfying your customers. The original Mexican food place in Chicago. This is Rick Bayless first Mexican restaurant. Rick forever changed what people consider Mexican food. He is an innovator and a Chicago icon for his alacrity and charm. The place is always packed so reservations are a must. If you are visiting Chicago, this is well worth the trip. Just a couple blocks from Michigan avenue or one block from the Red line subway. Check PBS and the food channel for some of his shows about both Mexican food and places in Chicago to go.

Frontera Grill is one of my favorite restaurants in the United States. I travel for business and live in Oakland California where the food and service is Top Notch. I'm from SF where we work in a restaurant for the food. Rick's been doing a Fantastic job for so many years. I'm spoiled with having many a signed book from Rick as he'll possibly stop by your table. Unbelievable food and service. Best of the Best!
