They have high quality fish here. If you love sushi, this is what you're looking for. Some of their rolls have blown out flavor profiles and are hard to appreciate subtleties. I ordered a couple of items off the kitchen menu and was unimpressed by the ratio of food to price. The second time I went, I sat behind the sushi bar and the sushi chef in charge of taking our orders was cold and unpleasant to deal with. Great service otherwise, and great sushi if you can avoid the super extreme flavor bombs.

My partner and I usually go to the Bamboo downtown and love it but tonight we wanted to try one of the other locations. We went to the one in SE and it was amazing! The host Elise set the tone of the experience-- it was busy and she was calm, funny, and handled it like a champ. Seana was our server and helped us order Omakase style-- we loved every single thing hand tried new flavors neither of us had had before. What great service! Thanks for giving us such an awesome, memorable meal.

Always a fantastic experience at Bamboo, every roll I have tried has been delicious! However, my personal favorite so far is 'The Local'. The drinks are well balanced and never too sweet. A fun thing to try are the steamed buns, they are soft, warm and tasty as can be. The filling is chef's choice so you'll get something different every time. They also have a fantastic happy hour!

When I go to this restaurant, I think of love. The love for the Japanese cuisine is clearly present in everything they do and serve, dishes made with the freshest sustainable fish and most beautiful vegetables. I doubt you'd ever be served even a single speck of brown avocado, this place is so meticulous. The best of their chefs will have your eyes glued to them, their technique is so captivating and tight. And all of their chefs know what they're doing, and learn efficiently from the others, constantly. They are the very picture of a well oiled machine. The serving staff and hostesses are beautiful, gracious, and ever present. We prefer to sit at the bar, which affords you the option of the chef's choice sushi, which just keeps coming and blows my mind and taste buds with its artisanal splendor. The meat itself is like buttery jewels from the deep, and no matter how full you are when you leave, you feel as though you've done your body a huge favor. I'll be going to this restaurant for special occasions for as long as I live in this beautiful city, that's for certain. And their kindness and generosity on learning that it was our anniversary touched our hearts and made us, and the evening, feel so important. I want to give all of the people that helped us a great big hug.

I feel like I have checked out a lot of fun sushi places around Portland and Bamboo has taken the cake. It's classy, well-priced, awesome staff and good food. I highly recommend checking it out. There can be quite a wait Thursdays - Saturdays, so maybe stop by for a fun break during the week.
