A+ Cost, with C Level Work ((At Best) and Damage)
Our actual job began in December (December 19th to be exact) Out of the gate, we were impressed. Nick was nice to work with. The crew was on time (day 1 of the job)
What could go wrong…?
It started when I got a call from our neighbor. He mentioned that the crew that had been in our house had left my son’s windows open & all the lights on. I asked him if he could please go over to or house, close the windows & turn everything off. No harm, no foul. Then… the very next day, not only was this activity repeated, but then our alarm system was turned off (actually, for the 2nd time (which was odd, since we had asked the crew beforehand not to un-plug)) I had to drive back and re-plug in our alarm system.
We got home on December 23rd, only to discover the job had yet to finished. Our original finish date was the 22nd. As we were coming home from out of town, we had no place to stay because of the crew running late. We also came home to broken Christmas ornaments, left over carpet debris, nails and staples in our lawn.
After giving the house enough time to air out, we started noticing this, that… the other. It started with broken window locks (our security locks) ; four in total (and all brand new windows (maybe, one year old)). I started noticing abrasion marks all over the new & old baseboards; the doors, the walls. I found chipped paint all over the house (mind you, we had our entire house painted in June, 2016) We discovered our door frames damaged & scuffed; meaning to me… nothing was taped off, or prepared correctly. We even had a damaged/ dented door knob. I do not know how you dent a door knob?
After a handful of conversations with Carpet Center Management, we have made very little progress. In fact & at this point, I think the Management team has selective hearing/ listening. I had been asked (by Carpet Center Management (Nick, specifically)) to get 3rd part quotes for the damage. I went to Home Advisor and used two 5-star vendors (for estimates) and so that it was 100% un-biased. Carpet Center’s Management believes I am trying to gouge them, by the proposals I received (and by the way, no one from the Carpet Center never even asked me for the actual SOW). So now, with little to no progress being made, Carpet Center Management would like to have “One of Their’ vendors give another quote. Once again, prolonging any chance to move forward.
As of February 7, 2017, we have no restitution or resolution to the damage left in our house. I am left with countless amounts of damage (not to mention absolute disrespect), broken window locks, damaged & dented door knobs.
After all this, I still made the cordial offer of paying for our baseboard & baseboard installment. The Carpet Center took that as they would subtract the baseboard and baseboard installation & still expect me to pay for the 2nd half of the job, not to mention eat the damage caused to my home. Again – I am pretty certain Carpet Center Management only hears/ listens to what they want.
I would not recommend the Carpet Center to my worst enemy
