Joe Whitlock 10 mins · One year ago I took my truck to Phil's Transmission to have a complete rebuild done on my transmission. He was paid $4560. For the most part, he was a fair and honest business owner, initially. One month ago, my truck had transmission issues. 4,450 miles were put on my truck in that year and the work he did failed. The parts he put in he swore by and even gave me a 2 year warranty on the work. So, back to Phil's Transmission my truck goes. One month later, I get a phone call from Phil saying the billet low stall converter failed and he ended up having to replace it. One month to replace a torque converter. Now, the time frame initially bothering me the most (and being vocal about it to him), he finally completes his job of replacing a torque converter. And what I mean by completing, is that he just so happened to have a torque converter laying around in his shop that would fit mine. Whether this is a low stall billet converter that I paid high dollar for or not, Only the next shop will know. Today, I went to pick up my truck and found something that pissed me off beyond comprehension. Not two days before my torque converter issues I gave my truck a bath. Not that it even needed it, it was nice out and I just wanted to get it clean. The pictures speak volumes, and when I inquired Phil about the mud all over the side of my truck his response was "My guys weren't abusing your truck, but I'll give you 10 dollars for a car wash." This prompted me to do an even further inspection of my truck and noticed even more during the month that he had it. Almost half a tank (16+/- gallons had been burnt), Over 90 miles had been put on the truck, AND the OLD transmission fluid from a year ago, was recycled and put back into the truck. Now don't get me wrong, the evidence I've gathered is Phil really doesn't do the test driving or work on the truck, it's his lackeys. And the lackeys he has working on the vehicles his customers brings him are nothing but disrespectful, ignorant fools that have no sense of professionalism for other people's property. When they see a fancy toy they will never be able to afford, they want to go out and have fun in it. However, Phil defends his "employees" and takes no responsibility for what they do and how they do it. My warning to anyone reading this. Do Not Take Your Vehicle To Phil's Transmission.

When you know a lot about cars and have a bit of auto mechanic skills, you start seeing that a lot of shops are just a bunch of straight thieves. I’ve just put on a new clutch on my car, but the pilot bearing wasn’t adjusted properly, so I wanted a second opinion on the matter. I took it to Phil’s, and just told him that something wrong with my clutch. The old man drove it around the block, came back, and told me that my entire clutch disk and pressure plate are ruined, can't be fixed, and it would cost me about $800 total for parts and labor. I took the car to my home garage, lifted it up, and just put a new pilot bearing in, which costed me $10, not the entire clutch! It’s been a year and I’m still rocking the same clutch and my issue was fixed. My motive of writing this is I don’t want people who are not mechanics to be ripped off, just because they’re not experts on the subject. This is not a service or a business, this is stealing. I hope you find an honest shop that serve your needs.

Phil's Transmission - Simply the best tranny shop, in OREGON! I found Phil 10+ years ago. He gets all our business and his expertise helps us keep the Dealerships honest and proved the AAMCOs are crooks putting in inferior parts, he even caught them putting in used parts from junk yards. Trust your Tranny to Phils. Just give him the time he needs to get to all the cars. He's a subject matter expert.
