If I could give negative stars I would. We acquired an older craftsman garden tractor. We contacted this establishment in order to go through this piece of equipment from stem to stern and find out everything that was currently needing attention/fixed, would soon need attention/fixed, etc. We wanted an estimate of what we were looking at to decide if it was worth putting the money into. After having the GT for 2 weeks we were just getting ready to call and find out the status when we were called and told it was ready. When we asked what the quote was we were told that the bill was less than $50. While this was great news on one hand we knew that there must have been some misunderstanding as part of the estimate was to be all new mulching blades and that alone should have been more than $50 not to mention that it wouldn't start when it was picked up. Add to that the fact that we had only wanted an estimate for repairs/potential repairs we were confused an the 'bill' for under $50.
When questioned about it and reminded that they were not authorised to do any work...just give a quote we got, "Oh, sorry...we will call you back." They got back to us and the new bill was just under $150 and we were told that all was good. They 'unstuck' the starter, put some oil in it, put new blades on it and aired up a tire. I was sceptical that those were the only things wrong but what do I know.
My husband attempted to use it a couple of days later and got about 20 feet and one of the belts broke. Called 'them' up and they said they had a belt for him that he could pick up on Monday. He stopped by to pick up the belt. That belt got sold to someone else on Sunday (they were supposed to be closed on Sunday or we would have been there to get the belt ourselves). They had a used belt that was in good condition that they would sell us for $15. Bought it, came home, attempted to put it on and it was the wrong size. Called them back and they said they had a new belt that was $45 so they could exchange it for the $30 difference in price. We confirmed that it was the right part and they assured us it was. Attempted to put that belt on and again it was the wrong size.
Told them they could just take their belt back and refund us our money. We left the belt for them in our delivery box and they left the 'refund'. They only refunded the $30 cash we had given them...not the $15 from the first belt that was exchanged. When asked about the difference we were told sorry...they weren't refunding us the $15 or giving us that belt back. So...in essence they have stolen $15. Not that $15 is a big deal...just goes to their ethics.
We had sinced ordered the belt from another party and after it arrived it was installed and fit. My husband started mowing on the first sunny day (after days of rain) and made it through about 2/3 of the front yard when the deck started smoking horribly and making a terrible sound. Something had frozen up.
So much for going through this GT from stem to stern to see what needed to be fixed! I wouldn't trust this 'business', at this point, to reliably work on a push mower (you know those old fashioned kind with no engine?).
