Had a mattress shipped from the Bay in Mississauga to Dartmouth. When it got to the Purolator facility a note was put on the tracking page that customer would have to arrange a courier to pick it up since it was "heavy" I called the Bay and they spoke with Purolator and advised that a courier would contact me. The courier who contacted me was- you guessed it -Purolator! They could not explain to me why that info re heavy shipment was put there as they deliver heavy items all the time. We organized the delivery that was to go to the home of my elderly mother.
On the day of the delivery I went to her house and we waited for the delivery.
There is a very wide driveway that will fit at least four cars. It was bare and accessible
A home care worker arrived at the house prior to the Purolator truck I asked her to pull her car over to the side as far as she could There was plenty of room for the truck to pull into the driveway Someone got out of the truck and then without any attempt to come into the driveway they left No attempt was made to contact me by phone I had been asked on the previous day to provide a number but no call When I called Purolator to see if he was coming back I was advised that there was no way to contact the driver I checked on the website and there was a note that delivery was attempted but recipient was inaccessible
I asked for the manager to call me and was advised that an email was sent asking for same
I waited at my mothers house thinking that they might come by again but they didn't
I made another call to Purolator at the end of two hours left another message Was told there would be no action for forty eight hours
At this point I drove to the Burnside depot and spoke with a very pleasant male at the desk I showed him pictures of the driveway He stated that someone would call me on Monday to make arrangements for delivery
I now see that there is a message on the site to come pick up the eighty one pound mattress within five days
These are my questions
How is it that other delivery trucks can use the driveway but Purolator can't?
Why couldn't the driver make some attempt to contact me as was the plan if there were any issues?
The driveway is very wide and deep if there were any concerns about a small car in the driveway could the helper not have come in and asked us to move it?
I notice that the wording re the heavy delivery on the tracking page has now been amended why?
It may not seem like this is a big deal However, it has been very frustrating for my eighty nine year old mother and I I will be advising the Bay re how this delivery was handled
