We used DC Moving for our move to Yellowknife. They were quite helpful in the planning stages and told us that it would take a week for our stuff to be moved from Toronto, Ontario to Yellowknife. With this in mind, I sent my plants with the truck. The move did not take a week and I lost 3/4 of my plants.
The company used 2 other moving companies in southern Canada to conduct our move. Our stuff got split into two different trucks, one going to Quebec City before coming north. The one week we were told became 1 month. We did not have our stuff until almost 3 weeks after we moved into our house in Yellowknife.
In speaking with the owner of the company, he assured me that his company was the best and that they would look after everything along the way. He was difficult to get a hold of, short, when speaking to, and always seemed to have excuses as to why the truck wasn't present or other issues discussed.
When our furniture, etc finally arrived, a number of invaluable and irreplaceable family antiques/furniture pieces were broken or damaged. The owner informed us that he would ensure that all of these pieces were replaced or fixed. He gave his word. In the end, he wrote us a cheque for far less than what it will cost to replace and fix the pieces. In dealing with the owner throughout this process, I found him rude and disrespectful. In speaking to him, I found his manner patronizing.
Using DC Moving has made us realize that we will never use a moving company again for our moves and definitely will not use or recommend DC Moving to anyone.
