The Courier Cafe

The staff was extremely attentive and made great suggestions. If nothing else I would give 5 stars to the staff alone, as it was early in the day and a friendly waitress (who was working at a different table) took a minute to compliment my choice of dessert. My actual waitress made suggestions all through the meal (and I eat a LOT) so her direction made my multi-course endeavor a great one. Past that, the food was outstanding, with the Turkey Ruben being something I would easily stop back by for in the near future.

This place is really great if you know what to order. I'm a huge fan of the Darcy Burger and the peanut butter/chocolate milkshake. The portions are pretty good too. They have a decent salad bar as well. Most people don't realize they serve alcohol here, which is a nice feature. The grilled cheese and pesto sandwiches are delicious as well. The gumballs are really stale. Don't waste your quarter.

Visited the Courier Cafe at around 2 pm on a Saturday. The place wasn’t two busy. Atmosphere was very cute, very classic. The food was good, reasonable also! However, the service was not good at all. I believe our waitress (we really didn’t know if we had one or not) got oversat, as per the other girl who helped her out, which is unfortunate. I think getting things a bit more ironed out and making sure everyone can work without getting too stressed would really help.

Courier Cafe is a great place for breakfast in the Champaign-Urbana area. Their menu features everything you would expect from a breakfast restaurant, and the prices are very reasonable. The place can get quite busy on weekends sometimes, so if you want to get seated quickly, it is recommended to go early. They have a weekly rotation of special coffee roasts that can be very tasty. I had eggs and pancakes most recently, and they were very filling. Courier Cafe succeeded in making pancakes with that stellar buttermilk flavor that is seemingly impossible to achieve at home.

An incredible breakfast place. Biscuits and gravy superb. Never found an entry I didn't like. Excellent wait staff, allow a few extra minutes on the food, so many things home made. A downtown Urbana favorite for years.
