I went into camp hoping to have fun. Boy was I wrong. This was terrible. One thing that we did that was not on the website was taxes. Why should kids ranging from 7 to 15 need to do taxes? This is never mentioned on the website which confuses me because we spent multiple days doing this. Also upon being bored and not liking camp, I asked to call my parents to go home. They refused to let me talk to them repeatedly. I was sent to camp and am missing so many clothes with a monetary value of about $150. It's not like I lost the clothes, the laundry service that they hired lost them. Multiple peoples clothes were lost during this process. Not only were my clothes lost, but the $35 sweatshirt that I bought was bleached and they blamed it on me. Upon expressing my concern to the camp director, Kevin said: "If you love something let it go." Also after telling Kevin about my missing clothes, my counselor Jeff told me not to go to the office anymore because I was "stressing Kevin out." On the website, it says that if you have a problem you can talk to someone about it. $2,000 for camp but it doesn't show with rundown facilities, counselors making 30 cents an hour (not an exaggeration), and lackluster equipment.

I am very impressed with the owner Kevin. His mission of empowering kids is magnified through his enthusiasm and positivity. The camp is the perfect distance away for any first time camper. My son really enjoyed the counselors who were from a variety of countries. He also raved about the food!

Liked our weekend here for a wedding. It's a decent camp, but definitely not upscale. While we did dam jumping and stood under the "waterfall" we were told there was no swimming in the lake, which is formed by the dam. The dining and assembly Halls were nice, the cabins were rustic, and the bath facilities were limited and seemed to be in need of some repair. However, the location was quiet and capable of handling a larger group with no problem, and the staff were fun and helpful. It's a good but not great location that worked great for the wedding. I'd never considered a camp weekend, and now I'd totally do it again!

My 11-year-old daughter has now attended Camp Kupugani two times and we both highly recommend it! I had searched and searched for an overnight camp that would not only be fun, but more importantly be inspiring. Camp Kupugani is truly an amazing place with a nurturing staff, a fun yet challenging curriculum, and with two camp directors/owners who treat their campers like they would their own children - with love, compassion and support. My daughter has become more empowered as a young woman and has a better understanding of how she can successfully love her unique self and make a difference in this world. I cannot say enough good things about Camp Kupugani. I guess the best way to explain it is that when I came to pick up my daughter after two weeks of camp this summer, the first thing she said was not "hi" or "missed you mom" but instead, "Can you please sign me up for next year's camp?!"

Our family was referred to Camp Kupugani by friends who had glowing words to say about it. They talked about how much their sons matured and developed from their Kupugani experience in the summer of 2014, and more importantly how much they enjoyed it. Upon learning about the role of culture, diversity, inclusion and teamwork that the camp integrates into its programming, we knew we had to learn more. We attended a Kupugani Reunion event in Chicago last winter (January 2015) and had an opportunity to meet warm and welcoming families who shared their experience. We also met the Directors, Kevin & Natasha, who took time to answer anxious parents questions and consistently be responsive to us as we made the decision to send our oldest son to his first overnight camp experience this summer. He returned home from his Kupugani camp experience less than a week ago and is ready for his 2016 camp experience already. As a first time camper, yes there were challenges for him (adjusting to being away from home, being in a far more rustic environment, making new friends like family for 2 weeks), but the benefits far outweighed the challenges for him. He has shared that his confidence is greater, he values his family even more after being away for 2 weeks, and he enjoys the fun and challenge of being on a team even more. We see the growth and development in our 10 year old boy and it has us beaming with pride. Kupugani Camp Director, Kevin, and his cabin counselors (Erin & Donnie) were instrumental in providing our son with the support he needed to adjust to camp life. They were also very responsive and made themselves available for regular online and live discussions (when needed) to keep us update on his transition and progress. We were very pleased to know when we picked up our son that his "experience story" matched what was shared with us by Kevin and his team. There is nothing more precious than your child and when you entrust their care to someone else you pray that they deal gently and loving with them, that they keep their best interest at heart, and challenge as well as comfort them appropriately. We are thankful to Kevin and the team at Camp Kupugani for doing exactly that on behalf of our son this summer!
