Bring shoes with sturdy soles if you plan to navigate through the grotto. The slick rocks and steep climbs are worth the view and amazing water. Be green and prepare to take all your garbage out with you and don't feed the seagulls it ruins everyone's day. The water is cold but refreshing and looks like the Caribbean. The path from parking lot one is wide and pretty smooth. Parking lot 2 is a long time to the grotto so plan for a quick turn around if you park there on a 4 hour day trip. Also plan ahead you need to book online. Even weekdays are fully booked so make sure you have made a reservation before you drive up

I absolutely love everything about this place except my experience with the parking. I had booked a spot for Sunday afternoon 12:30 and I went on and there was still tons of spots every hour available the night before. As we live in Canada we all know how’s fast the weather changes that night they started calling for showers leading into heavy rain starting at 1 pm. I was concerned we would get rained out and so we least early arriving at 10:30. This is a two hour drive for me mind you. When I pulled up i told the lady working I know you have to change the reservation 48 hours prior but it’s not busy and the weather changed and I’m wondering if I can hand in this parking and trade it for parking now ? Her response was flat out No. She said she would take my prepaid parking value of 17 dollars changed for booking on line and me printing it off myself. (LOL at the “online booking fee” of 5 dollars) And I would have to pay an extra 11.50 to enter the park right then and there with absolutely no refund or transfer of my prepaid ticket. Needless to say, because my boyfriend lives in Markham and I wanted him to experience the Grotto I paid an extra 11.50 to go in and she took my other ticket. When she gave my my parking pass it had the time slot 8:30-12:30 meaning we had two hours in the park before they could ticket and or tow my car. Over all I paid 30 dollars for 2 hours in the park with a half hour hike there and half our back gave us one actual hour. It started raining at 12 and by the time we packed up to drive out at 12:30 after the hike back my hair was soaked. I get when it’s jam packed there is no leeway but given the circumstances and it was June 3 and not peak season I am SO DISAPPOINTED. As you can see in the pictures there’s only a handful of people actually there.

No doubt it's a nice place with nice trail and lake, but the camping site is not at all planned properly, just 1 rest room for the whole camp ground and the waste bin so much away from that you need to take your garage in a car to drop it there. Water taps not easily accessible. On the top, the restrooms are not clean. We had such a bad experience that we decided never to go back here for camping. The only thing worth visiting here is the grotto and the trail.

Great place. Lots to explore. Grotto is the best part of the camping experience. Flower pot island is gorgeous. A gifted place. Coming soon this year.

Clean, organized, beautiful and absolutely worth it. Book long ahead of time to get a spot as it's incredibly busy/hard to get a spot. The Grotto and Indian cove are about a kilometre hike away (with multiple hiking levels - easy-difficult)
