Quiet, peaceful, reasonably priced for rental. Great spot for a group retreat in the camping off-season.

Camp McGovern is my home away from home...there is truly no place like it. The sky above, the grass below this is my camp the world I know ...💕💕💕

MAGIC OF MCGOVERN! I have not seen a statment so full of truth in a long time! My two children attended camp for the first time. Both togethet for the short week. Then my older child for a full week. My younger child "A" lives with moderate-severe anxiety. It affects his life in many areas, especially socially. He had only ever spent three nights away from home, all at my mother's house. I was shoked when Twist offered to talk to A on the phone about camp. After he hung up, he told me he wanted to go. I was not completely sold on the idea. Next Twist and a group of councillors came to meet the kids. A was a little slow to warm up, but once he did he was beaming! When camp arrived, I dont know which one of us was more nervous (we were both trying to hide it). The councillors introduced themselves, were helpful and very excited. Most important was the respect! I over hearc one camper express they weren't feeling great about being there. The responds was "thank-you for being honest with me! Just know we are so happy to see you back!" AMAZING! This camp treats the child like people! It was great to see! Fast forward to the end of the week. Not a call home! At pick up, A was so excited to tell me about camp. He made connections with people, enjoyed new experiences and even though he admitted feeling unsure sometimes, he tried and had a great time! Now he can not wait to go back!! My older children, who received the nickname Lucy (amoung a couple others) found a place where she can be her true quirky self and everyone loves her for it, not inspite of it! She now talks the leads programs, wanting to be a councillor and not being able to wait for next summer. I will always be thankful for this experience and look forwards to many years of camp!
