I have read a few negative reviews here and I honestly feel that the negativity says more about the reviewers than about Dr. Gillam and his staff. My family and many extened family and friends have been going to Dr. Gillam for well over a decade and we have always had great service. Dr. Gillam has always been honest with me and we have never been pressured to get glasses; even when we need them. I have a mild astigmatism, that is helped with my glasses, and it changes every few years, but not enough that I necessarily need to get new glasses; unless I want some. The accusation about Norma trying to scam Blue Cross by direct-billing them for their portion is just a blatant example of defamation from a customer who seems to have had buyer's remorse and decided to try making an honest employee look bad for doing her job properly instead of taking responsibility for his own decisions. I highly recommend this office.

After reading Ben's post I had to write a review, I completely disagree with his opinion on this business. I have been going to Dr. David Gillam's practice for eye care for many years. He and his office staff have been more then wonderful to me and my family for as long as we have been going to him. From what I know, he is the only independent and family owned Optometrist left in Truro, he runs a professional, honest and customer oriented business. He remembers me and my family well each time we visit, making us feel well cared. His prices are very fair and Norma, the office manager and secretary is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful if we ever have any questions. Overall, I would recommend Dr. David Gillam to anyone, he provides a great, friendly and fair priced service, we have never been disappointed with any aspect of care we have received here.

Recently I had an eye appointment with Dr David Gillam. He had been recommended to me by Dr. Jamie Rogers. Although I feel that Dr Gillam's eye exam was thorough, I would not recommend that anyone goes here because of the extreme pressure to buy glasses from him. I was completely humiliated when I tried to get my prescription without buying glasses. I eventually did get my prescription but it was an awful scene. I was advised by Dr Gillam that I should shop local and that I couldn't do better than the $ 300 deal he was giving me. I got my glasses at Costco for $ 150 complete.

I have been going to Dr. Gillam for quite a long time. I have always had the best eyecare. He is very courteous and thorough. He always suggests which glasses would look best on me and he is 99% always right. His staff are 100%.They are knowledgeable and helpful and very friendly. They make you feel so comfortable. Thankyou Dr. GILLAM AND STAFF!!

I have been going to Dr. Gillam since I was 7 (Im 32). The staff, have never pushed any products on me, and I have very bad eyes and have never paid more then 250-300$ for my lenses AND frames (and the same prices goes for contacts, when I did wear them). If you CHOOSE the expensive brand name labels, they can be expensive (they have Dolce & Gabbana, CK, to name a few). Dr Gillam himself is always very professional and always talks to me about what he has discovered. He nor the staff never sales pitched me, even when I was unable to afford my new glasses at the time. They were kind, patient and very nice.
