Amazing beautiful yoga studio with knowledgeable teachers and staff. I have always found them helpful and and kind. If you are looking for a style of yoga that has foundations for beginner basic yoga or more advanced yoga this is it. I went to the basic classes for 4 weeks before trying the Open classes. I have not tried the aerial yoga classes but it looks and sounds like fun. The studio owners Bob and Austin are super nice guys and very supportive of the students and the Jersey City community as a whole. Its one of the few yoga studios I have been to that is very diverse in its members. I like that being a person of color.

When I first walked into Jivamukti I was at a crossroads in my life. I wanted to do something physical to stay in shape but also needed something deeper. Something spiritual, I was searching for my true self and mostly for peace. That was in April. It is now August and I can honestly say this place is like a home to me. It has made me a better person in every aspect of my life, relieved my stress and anxiety as well as put me in the best shape of my life. All the teachers are there to help and guide you and Austin and Bobby are so welcoming and helpful. Thank you Jivamukti for all that you have done for me. I don’t know where I would be without you.

I only took one class here, which was okay but not great. I signed up through ClassPass and usually when I go to a new studio, I get a little tour and / or explanation of how class works and where the bathrooms are. At the very least, I get a nice greeting. When I walked in, the person at the front desk was having a conversation with another student, which made me think this place was welcoming. However, the person at the front desk proceeded to ignore me for a few minutes while I awkwardly waited to check in. It was just unprofessional and made me feel like an outsider, which is pretty rare for a yoga studio. The class itself was okay, the instructor went through some of the poses a little too quickly and was definitely catering to the other 2 or 3 students who were regulars. Again, I felt like an outsider. The experience overall wasn't good enough to make me want to come back. I didn't feel very welcome and the staff was unprofessional. Also, if you scroll down, you'll notice the owner trolling only negative posts in a very confrontational and unprofessional way. If you have a bad experience with a business, why wouldn't they try to make it up to you and see if they can make the relationship work? It's not that hard to swallow your pride and apologize, even if you don't think you're wrong. I'm a customer service professional and do this all the time. And guess what? I have never ended a relationship with a customer on bad terms, even if the communication begins on a negative note.

The RUDEST, most confrontational owners / front desk managers I have ever come across at a yoga studio. I had a mediocre yoga class and called to convey the feedback expecting a sympathetic response or at least an acknowledgement of the poor experience (which included the owner who I thought was the front desk manager at the time making me to go down the stairs and outside in the freezing cold when I was 6 months pregnant and visibly winded from having just come up to to go get a flyer so I could have the first class free, claiming it was the owner’s rules when he was the owner himself). When the owner returned my call it was only to berate me, to the point of bringing me to tears knowing full well that I was very pregnant at the time. After admitting that the instructor who taught the class was just learning, which explained the quality of the lesson, he proceeded to lecture me on how I should be understanding if not every class is good since apparently the instructors are sometimes beginners themselves (why would I pay a premium price for that?) and asked me never to come back to the studio even though I had purchased a class pack. There are so many other fantastic yoga studios in the area.. don’t bother with this one. Recommend: Michelle Timek Yoga, Surya Yoga, or the yoga classes at Base.

I am not at all a yoga person, exercise person or someone who would attend a group class. But Jivamukti changed me completely... Jivamukti has changed my life.. It has such a positive impact on my body and mind that I can't live without it. I would strongly recommend Jivamukti Yoga center to all who are really interested in YOGA. There is no other place like Jivamukti at least in JC in terms of ambiance, instructors and method of teaching. Thanks to Austin and Bobby!!!
