Doggie Central was not a good fit for me and my dog. You may have better luck, but here is my experience. I emailed, asking to come in to see the facility and speak with their dog trainer. They responded promptly and I was invited to come in the next day to sit in on a training class. Upon entering, the stench of ammonia filled the room; although the facility looked clean, it was made apparent by the smell that – either it wasn’t cleaned enough, or that the rubber mats they use were absorbing the odor. We sat in and observed the class. There were about 6 dogs in the class and one of the trainers in the middle. The dogs were pretty quiet and well-mannered at the beginning of the class. As the class progressed, we watched as the owners walked around the room. Some handled their dogs extremely well; others were jerking their dogs about. I understand that the training style involved some level of correction, but some “corrections” were being given when it wasn’t needed – in particular, there was a Mini Aussie that was being corrected (by the owner) with and upward leash jerk; even when the dog was walking nicely, at the woman’s side without pulling, she was jerking up on the leash so much that the little dogs feet were off the ground. I was expecting the trainer to notice and correct the owner, but she paid no mind to those that were over correcting or doing things incorrectly. Most of the class was her instructing then just watching the participants – there was barely any interaction or attention given to the class. I had done training with my older dog, so I am aware of the various techniques. The reason I was looking for a different facility, was for my benefit. I could have gone back to the first place I went, but I didn’t want to be bored with the same experience when training my puppy. Although this facility is close, I was thrown off by thick stench in the air and by the trainer’s lack of interaction or correction. If I’m going to a training class, I don’t just want to be told what to do (I could watch a video on youtube), I want to be taught and corrected if I make a mistake – that is how you learn! Anyways, don't rely solely on Google Reviews. Just because I had a bad experience, doesn't mean you will. Go out and shop around for the right fit; it may very well be Doggie Central, but it might not.

Love this place. Our dog group has been having get-togethers here for 3 years. It has a safely contained and fenced backyard area which has a fake grass so the dogs aren’t only running in concrete. There’s a bit of seating for the 2-leggers. There’s a small swimming pool in the summer so you can cool off your pup. There’s lots of free and easy parking (Sunday parties). It’s quiet (on Sundays) - except for the barking which is ok! It also always seems to be 1-2 degrees warmer in the yard. Can’t thank them enough for letting us rent the space for all these years. Also easy walking distance from Kipling Station.
