Great side trip to take if you are on a family vacation. Our kids could not get enough of how boats could be transported from one body of water to another until they say the marine railway! The early 1900's hydro plant on site as well is something to see! You will need to walk towards the water along side the current hydro pond beside the railway to find it, though. The gate looks like it is there only to control parking! Have a picnic, or stop at the restaurant! Worth going off your main vacation route!

It's a fascinating engineering achievement moving boats between different heights of water without a lock or channel. Everything is easy to see and a small museum talks about the watwr system and local history. There's not much to do besides watch the railway go back and forth a few times but it is spectacular to watch.

Amazing place to see the fancy boat railway. Summertime Saturday visit by car was a neat spot to go with free parking and lots to see. Seemed like a 2 hour wait for the boats going up but I was glad to see it busy!

The most spectacular "lock" we went through. A unique experience when your boat is lifted off the water and transported down the hill. Kids loved it.

A very unique system, purpose built for here only. Always good knowledge and fun to see. Even better if you have a boat to bring and try the experience for your self. Not much in amenities, bring what you need.
