Cute little museum/library!

Oct 8, 2012
We were driving to get apples at Almond's Meaford and stopped to check out Northwinds Beach. I saw that Craigleith Heritage Depot was nearby. This is small museum/heritage/travel info all in one. I got a friendly welcome and invitation to browse the exhibits. Lots of things happened here. There are a few rooms and they are arranged by theme and topic. It has connections to Sir Sanford Fleming, originally built in late 1870s. It served ans the train station until the 1960s. In the 1940s it was popular with skiiers to take the train from Toronto. Then it was vacant from 1960 to 1964, when it was operated as a restaurant by Kenn and Suyrea Knappman until 1999, then it was again vacant for a time. It was purchased in 2001 by the Town of the Blue Mountains. It is now a museum/heritage Centre. Plan on taking friends to see this next time.
