It was just plain, simple pleasure. The presentation was very informative and interesting, but even more appealing was the willingness of the the presenter to answer the questions and engage in the discussion with the audience related to the topics and some that strayed away a bit. The observatory was an experience of its own kind, in its own right, mind blowing at times. With so much history behind it, so many stellar achievements, so much expertise at hand, it is almost unbelievable the whole facility has been retired and decommissioned. I fully understand that the urban growth and the glow that it brings significantly impacted the research abilities of the observatory, but I'm sure there are enough many black/dark spots within 10-20km around the city that a feasible one could have been found and everything moved to, had there been enough will and foresight. This way, it sadly looks like another AVRO. Still, we'll go there again, at least once more, but I suspect it will be more than that...

This is a historical and scientific treasure right in the GTA. We're pretty lucky to have access to it. Typically, there is a lecture for about an hour, then the group is taken to see the observatory and take a peek at whatever the telescope is trained on that night. Be mindful that a clear picture is not guaranteed as this is highly weather dependent. The lecture and observatory cost about $15 through the City of Richmond Hill website. Do not miss the amateurs on the lawn with their own telescopes. They are passionate about space science and very informative as well as being quite gracious in letting you use their telescopes. Parking is free.

A historic building with legacy systems. Sign up for the tour; a university of Toronto professor will be the speaker and many scientists as your guide. Go at clear nights and with the whole family. Lots of scientific facts.

A magnificent piece of art from the old U of T days. Nothing like this in the GTA. Hope the recent land development is not affecting this historic structure. We Canadians will regret it if we don't preserve these two historic buildings.

Beautiful place and would make a lovely place to have a quiet picnic on the weekend with friends or family or simply explore and take pictures. Would have been 5 stars had it been open. I suggest to visit when it's open or when there is an event on. It was easy to find but I wonder how the new subdivision will affect the observatory when it's complete.
