This place definitely took a hit from the last time I’ve been here which was like 10 years ago. Used to remind me of NYC, but other places near Toronto have developed. Hurting “lil India” business for sure. People are going to Mississauga because they have everything that lil India has. And it’s closer. But i had one of the best chaats when I was here. Nice place to visit and shop.

Sorry, let me de-mystify this so-called Little India. It is now just a relic of past when new comers from Indian subcontinent (Read India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) had setup ethnic shops & food joints decades ago- that's how it took its name. But now the nature of this place has completely changed! Many desi shops have closed or sold & converted to non-Indian spots. Just turn your head upwards & you will see the ugly dilapidated state of 2nd floors on every shop on gerrard street. Better visit Albion-Kipling, Markham-Ellesmere, Steeles-Markham or Brampton or Mississauga!

This is a fantastic place if you are looking for some exotic gift items, authentic spices or traditional Indian dresses. Love this place and would certainly recommend it to my friends and family!

Little India is home to the Gerrard India Bazaar, North America’s largest South Asian ethnic market. Browse textile shops full of colourful silks to make the perfect sari, or buy vibrant ready-to-wear clothing at import clothing shops. Find bargains on exotic home furnishings, jewellery and art from South Asia. There’s plenty to keep you busy and that’s before you even get to the Bazaar’s main attraction – the food.

Old little India becoming very artsy with galleries and good restaurants everywhere. Great place for a picky eater or an artist.
