I made an online reservation for a cargo van and about 24 hours before my pick up time, the rental location staff calls me to advise that they are cancelling my reservation since they do not have a vehicle available for me. Completely poor customer service. How does a computer system allow you to book a vehicle, confirm it then 4 days later, an employee calls to say they cannot honour the reservation. If you need a vehicle for moving, you cannot count on Discount, go to another agency! Luckily, I managed to find another vehicle at another location on my own. They should have done this for me.

This was the worst experience I ever had with a car rental agency period. Not only do they make you pay upfront, but also force you to additionally place a hold of $250 on your credit card. Probably the only company I know of who does this. I originally rented the vehicle for a week, and called in to extend it for another and was told I had to physically come in to pay for the additional week and that it couldn’t just be added to my card via phone. The same day I called I went to a different location leaving work early to make it before close and realized once trying to put through payment that they’d actually already placed an additional $400 hold on my card. So essentially they did what they told me numerous times they were unable to do. Wasted my time. Great so another week goes by and I attempt to call and extend for a few more days but don’t make it before they close. They have no voicemail so I’m unable to leave any type of message or note. I end up breaking my phone over the weekend preventing me from seeing anything on the screen. Long story short, 2 days pass and when I finally get my phone fixed I have like 4 voicemails from these people and the last threatening to file a missing vehicle report. And that’s not even the last of it, hours later after I call into the office to let them know I’m bringing the car back they literally show up at my building and get my front desk security involved. I was in such shock, never have I ever been harassed by a company in such a way. I will never ever ever use their services again and continuously warn any person I come across to never use their services. What a horrible way to interact with customers. And quite frankly ridiculous policies that clearly don’t even seem to be official. My first and very last with discount rentals.

Terrible experience! I reserved a mini van online two weeks prior to the date I needed it for. They called me a week prior to the date to confirm, and I also told them I would need to be picked up, as I didn’t leave far away from the location, they agreed to do so. The day of pick up, their driver came and picked me up in a mini van. I specifically asked if THIS was the mini van I would be renting and he confirmed with a YES. When we reached the location he told me to go inside and fill out paper work and I’ll be on my way. I go inside and there’s two gentlemen in front of me waiting to get served. After they get served I go to fill out my paper work and come to find out the two gentlemen before me just took the van that I had reserved. So now the manager (I’m assuming) is saying he can give me an SUV but I specifically needed a mini van. After a whole bunch of mix up and back and forth, he (the assumed manager) says he will send me to AVIS up the street and they will rent me a car, to drive to another AVIS (in City of Markham) to get the van. YES, you read that right. They wanted me to rent a car just to drive to Markham so that I can pick up a van, to rent. *sigh* You could imagine the stress I was experiencing at this point. So the same driver that picked me up, drove me up the street to AVIS. Which I then had to fill out their paperwork. The story continues but I’ll save that review for AVIS because they were just as terrible as Discount. In conclusion, they picked me up at 4pm and I didn’t get home with a van until 7pm. TERRIBLE experience! Reservation is clearly a meaningless word in that place and I certainly will NOT be renting from them again!

Unfortunately im not able to choose no stars as 1 star is one too many. Absolutely horrible experience from walking through the door. Spent over an hour trying to get my vehicle that was pre-booked earlier. They spent more time on the phone than speaking to the 2 customers inside.
