The PSWs , the nurse and staff, including the volunteers, are superb and very caring. Things I don't like - his room is a ward, which is all we can afford. With 4 beds it is too cramped with not enough space to put a chair for a visitor. He is wheelchair confined and other than for meals he spends most of his time in bed - therefore, I am worried about potential bedsores. A meeting was held with his care team where everything was addressed, even the dietician. I really feel the wards should be 3 beds only as it is so cramped. One other concern is that during mealtimes the PSWs are busy so if he requires help in the bathroom he can wait quite some time. If I've been there I often have to go chasing down a PSW for help. I can understand budget cutbacks where PSWs have to help serve the meal, but I feel one or two should be strictly assigned to assist those who push the call button for help. Other times he has been left in a diaper full of excrement for 2 hours or longer because PSWs were on their break, supper or busy. There have been some weeks where he has not received a shower because they were short handed in staff.

Our Relative lives in this building. I have visited many other extended care places and this is the absolute worst I have ever seen. The floor he is on is small, crowded, scruffy & lifeless. There is so much equipment lining the hallways I’m scared for the people’s safety. Dining area crowded and pathetic. I’m sure eating is the highlight of the day as there is nothing else to do! The tv is in a small room with one old couch & to watch tv you have to turn your head sideways...I challenge anyone to try this & see how your neck feels after a couple minutes. Disgusting is The only word I have for floor in tv room you’d have to see it to believe it. No person should have to live in this place. This is their home! They pay to live here. They deserve better. By the way, when you first enter building it looks lovely...don’t be deceived!! This place is also a for profit business!

I went in to see my brother and they have him a room with 3 other people the room is so tiny that I can't see how it can be safe to have that many beds in one room. There's no where for him to sit besides his electric wheelchair or his bed also no where for a visitor to sit it looks like they through a 4th bed and cupboard in the room. I will be watching the care my brother gets cause he's on IV medication 6 times a day and one is for CDiff do to endless antibiotics cause of infections so now he will be prone to sores. The last time my brother was there was for rehab and they had him up walking and he full went right through a door cause they weren't watching him properly. When My mom was in St. Vincent's I wasn't a fan but the room she was in was at least twice the size and had 3 beds in the room. I think I'd rather see him in St Vincent's

My Dad has lived here since May 2017 and he has received immaculate care. Super heroes work on the 4th floor. I am so grateful my Dad received an offer for a bed here. I was apprehensive at first due to negative reviews but the staff here could not be more kind & loving. There is a genuine atmosphere of professionalism, dedication & caring for elderly people. This facility is exceptionally well run. It is very clean & organized & my Dad's needs are met on a daily basis with grace & dignity. He is unable to walk much anymore & is in a wheelchair and there have been virtually no incidences of any falls. I never worry about him falling or being mistreated. I sleep well at night knowing he is well taken care of. The staff are in regular contact with me updating me on my Dad's well being in terms of food intake & medication needs, etc...I highly recommend Carlingview Manor and every day feel thankful that my Dad received an offer for a bed here.

My grandmother has been here for 9 months, in those nine months, she has had 4 falls. I contacted the Ministry of Long Term Care to find out the reason for these falls, and it came back that 3 out of 4 of them were Carlingview's fault. There were 4 issues of non compliance to her care. I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere as when I spoke to the director of care, her response to my inquiry about what seems to be a lack of care for what my grandmothers needs were (she has progressive dementia) was "I have 537 patients here". I am certain that there are more capable homes in the immediate area than this one.
